Summary
The Shadow Crusade has begun. While the Ultramarines reel from Kor Phaeron's surprise attack on Calth, Lorgar and the rest of the Word Bearers strike deep into the realm of Ultramar.
Their unlikely allies, Angron and the World Eaters, continue to ravage each new system they come across - upon the garrison planet of Armatura, this relentless savagery may finally prove to be their undoing. Worlds will burn, Legions will clash and a primarch will fall.

Get up.
The best book in the whole horus heresy collection, gives an excellent look into the Primarchs interactions with each other and the astartes are relatable. Also Kharn.

Blood for the blood god
This book made me Love the worldeaters so much it's unreal, it finally gave some depth to a legion who has always been dubbed a pack of mindless brawlers. couple that with more scheming from the Word Bearers adds to my dislike of Erabus and Lorgar. I think I may dislike them more than any other characters we all love to hate and that includes King Joffrey and Professor Umbridge.

Great story, superb performance.
I was absolutely sold on the performance of this book when one of the characters utters "a laugh like a mudslide". The reader then went on to do just that.
Also book good. The world eaters are easy to do as a very one dimensional group, and this actually manages to add depth to the berzerkers.

Amazing
This book is excellent throughout, and if you’re a Horus Heresy fan, the epilogue has to be one of the most satisfying endings to a book I’ve ever read. Jonathan Keeble once again proves to be one of the best narrators working with Black Library.

Unbelievably good
This is by far the best book I’ve ever read. As a long standing warhammer fan this is still my favourite book despite reading so many pf the 40K and 30k books. The story is just amazing especially the character development and the voice acting is superb. All in all READ THIS BOOK.

Excellent
The story stands up there with the best in the series. narration is good. Would have loved some auto tune or something on the dreadnought voices though. I really am developing a bad habit of listening to these too quickly though.

Eye Opening
This book was the 1st I read that priced into the heart of the World Eater's Primarch, and what a eye opening insight it gave. I never thought I'd agree with Angron.

Angron the Oathbreaker, Angron the Betrayer!
Cannot recommend this Horus Heresy novel enough, ADB is fantastic in his writings as always and the amped up level of comedy alone makes this a great novel in its own right not just one of the best in the series. Jonathan Keeble also really sells the characters to a point of near realism. Like First Heretic Lorgar is a greatly interesting character usually keeping his machinations close to the chest, his obsession with truth(however ugly) leaves him a semi relatable demigod in good contrast to Angrons depravity from The Butchers Nails. Angron is simply amazing, wont even describe because everything about him is central to the plot and Lorgars plans of both brotherly love and supreme conquest. This is an absolute must for those plowing through the series and easily rivals ADBs near perfectly executed Night Lords trilogy.

The Final Duel is Catharsis of the Best Kind
ADB again does a magnificent job of making the traitors nuanced and complex. Argel Tal and Kharn have a true friendship.

ADB is a master
it is a pleasure to listen to the nearly poetic prose of Aaron Dembski-Bowden, particularly following even a good effort by Graham McNeil. A world where ADB wrote all the W40K books would be a much better one but, since we live in this reality, every book we are blessed to have him write should be enjoyed like wine in a world full of grape juice and vinegar.

The Betrayer - best of the Horus Heresy so far
This is probably the best in the Horus Heresy so far, A beautifully written story where every part is tied together. This book shows the rebellion side when it really fell to chaos.
