Summary

Ever wish your real life was more like a video game? Be careful what you wish for!

Felix thinks he is losing his mind when he starts getting game-like quest notifications on his phone. But then, things get really strange when he realizes he is now able to level-up in real life.

After gaining the rare Beastmaster class and bonding himself to a particularly bloodthirsty housecat, Felix finds himself in a race against time to defeat his high school nemesis - who may now be a seven-foot-tall ogre with anger issues - and save the world.

When zombies roam the streets and even the squirrels are out for blood, Felix finds out that it’s not that easy when your life becomes...gamified.

5 chapters in and I deleted it , I have read bad audiobooks but this is the worst. written just to exist. childish at the highest level. if you write a litrpg this an example how not to write one.

If real life life was an RPG

starts with a slow introduction while Introducing the game mechanics into the real world and how our MC intends to use them to make hes life better until he realizes that there is more at stake then just grinding for exp.

Great listen, great premise engaging!

Really enjoyed this book, it was well written and well narrated. It has an engaging style and the story any geeky youths (like I was) will be able to relate to the main character and be drawn into this world. Really looking forward to the next one.

What a great book

I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book.
A great litrpg book, the concept is brilliant and I was drawn in very quickly. the characters are perfectly suited for this adventure. Attention to detail is superb, characters building and progression doesn't overwhelme the main story.
The narration is flawless. Overall a great listen. I would most definitely recommend this to anyone who likes litrpg.

I got a cramp from cringing so hard

I hate being this directly negative but I have to be blunt. This has to be one of the most cringe-worthy, generic, stereotyped books I've listened to on audible. I couldn't even get 2 full hours into it before I gave up.

it reads like it was written by someone who's never played any game in their life and only knows both games and gamer/nerd culture from watching caricatures of nerds on 90's sitcoms.

All of the characters are sad, lonely losers with awful lives that hide themselves away in games, where they are literal gods in game and the greatest video game player in all of time and space. they get bullied by the rich, tough guy jock dude, the supporting best friend character is the stereotype kind of "awesome gamer hacker nerd" that literally only exists in the minds of someone thats never touched a computer. Like, the kid is like 15-16 but this is exactly how the book introduced him

"He was pretty good with computers and knew some coding. his computer had all kinds of custom software on it."

Thats not how literally anyone talks, nor is it how computers or programming works.

Then they plug his phone into the computer to 'see if its hacked' and the guys response is to use some custom antivirus super program he apparently programmed to find out that "Na man its totally fine unless the program is super malicious it would be all up in your processes with rogue code everywhere"

this is not how people talk

I know it sounds like a really petty complaint but its indicative of the entire book's view of... well... the entire genre that its writing about. I can't think of a better way to describe it but "Cringe". its just all the worst stereotypes used in the worst ways.

and the way he describes both the fictional game the main character plays and the actual real life 'game mechanics' that start popping up is just as cringe worthy as well. I genuinely don't think the writer has played a single video game in their entire life.

Narrator was fine. Nothing amazing but nothing bad. Nothing to write home about. even the best narrator couldn't save this book though.

Pass this one up and you won't miss out on a single thing.

I wanted to like this book

I really wanted to like it, the premise sounded and it was, the book just felt childish at times but the author did do a good job of being edgy

LitRPG/Augmented Reality

Great LitRPG with augmented reality with the 'game' occurring in the real world. Great combination of standard game tropes, which the characters notice, combined with some expected twists. I'm looking forward to the second book.

Loved it

I really loved this book, it was a nice change of pace. this book is aimed at younger audiences (like 14 over) but I still think it's a good series.

Pavi proczko does good as always, he's a top tier narrator, and he has to be in my top ten.
When we talk about the characters, I like them. all the main side characters in this book aren't bad at all, they all have unique personalities, and unique skillsets. Felix is also written very well, and he's a pretty good Mc.
there was some character development with Felix. you could see him change through out the book.
I also love Felix's skills, it's very unique, and you don't see beastmasters much. There's also alot of skill progression, it goes from the Mc to the side characters. it's so awesome listening to them rank up, and learn how to use there abilities. his claws also remind me of max from tower climber.

the plot was lighthearted and I really don't find anything bad about it. I wouldn't say the plot is groundbreaking but it's certainly good. i also like the world building, it kinda reminds me of level up, but better. the world is build very well, and I love the detail put into it. I also like the tone brook sets for this book, it was a nice change of pace from other books I listen to.
I really think this book is really well written, the plot is good, the skill progression is good, the characters are cool and have depth to them, there is a good narrator. I don't really have any complaints, I love this book through and through.

When it comes to action, I love it. it's very action packed, and the fights are very detailed. there is way more action in this book than I expected, it's also awesome listening to how they work together and take down these bosses.
I also bet book 2 is gonna be more action packed, and honestly I can't wait to see how this story plays out.

brook aspen did so good writing this, I can't wait too listen to book 2. I also can't wait to hear more of pavi proczko. I 100% recommend this book to anyone who want to hear it.

A simply fun adventure

You're getting exactly what you expect, a simple easy read that's fun for gamers of every age. It's not an advanced read but easy for a young adult gamer to get into. A little mystery leaves it open for sequels yet stood alone just fine.

A great YA LitRPG

I bought this book about 3 months ago, and it just kinda sat in my library until book tow came out and I remembered I had bought it. I wish I had listened to it sooner, and then I could have already done a re-read.
