Summary

When Kers is reborn as a dungeon core, he finds himself stuck in the most improbable of places: a cloud. High in the sky and far away from the usual solid resources, Kers must face the obvious question: How is a dungeon to build itself without wood or stone?

Luckily, Kers has the sarcastic (and sometimes helpful) fairy Selena to help him get his bearings. Together, the pair delight in exploring Kers’ weird existence, creating novel mobs, and enticing adventures to plumb the lofty heights of his floors.

After all, with vicious yet fluffy snow leopards, infuriating pink slimes, and some sharks with freakin' energy beams, what’s not to love? Everything seems to be falling into place.

That is, until the other dungeons—each with their own unique resources and machinations—also take an interest in Kers. He soon finds himself with strange new friends and dangerous new foes.

After all, the Adventures Guild does not take kindly to "irregular" dungeons....

Forced to fight, Kers must use every advantage his unique situation grants him if he and his new family are to survive this second chance at life.

Flying high with adventure

I got a free code for an honest review.

Yeas it’s a real 5 star - let’s give my reasons.
First it a group of narrators, who here doesn’t wince even with the best narrators when they’re male and they try to woman as voices.. come on it’s not just me. So this is a delighted, as it is not one, not two but a group of narrators.
Second you’d think oh it’s just a dungeon core story.. well yes, but it’s a great one and the being it the clouds does have a significant part towards the end of the story.
And there’s more… it’s a book in itself, while also with opening for the next in line. There is action, great links to our world. Sass. Groans and cheers a plenty.
Finally - I actually bought the kindle version of the book.. why you ask as I NEED this author to keep writing!

Solid first bopk

Really interesting book, dungeon core idea is a new one for me, so very refreshing change to the classic LitRPG style. Great characters, dialogue is sharp. Audio production is what makes this for me - joy to listen to.

Good start and cool setting

I went into the audiobook without any expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The protagonist here isn’t a Dungeon Lord, but rather the dungeon itself – which provides a refreshing change in the genre. The world-building is very well done, and although the character interactions weren’t optimally written at the beginning, both the story and the characters developed nicely. Thanks to the “small” Isekai elements, there were also a few references from our world. By the end of the book, I didn’t want to put it down and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is also due to Justin Thomas James (JTJ) and the rest of the Soundbooth Theater cast, who did a fantastic job. You can simply feel the passion with which the narration was carried out. Additionally, you witness JTJ’s abilities improving throughout the story. Overall, the first book provides an excellent preview of the epic tale that awaits us. Well-deserved 4 stars.

Another Dungeon Core book.

Another take on the Dungeon core as the protagonist.

I was going to rate this lower when I first started listening to it. At the start I felt the character interactions where very cringey and not fluid, But that improved through the book and got better as it went on, Author still needs to work on that a bit, and should have gone back through and redone some of the interactions once he'd found his flow.

There was subtle and loud Pop culture references throughout the book for some added humour and through back.

Soundbooth Audio delivered another stellar performance. The audio production and voice effects are as always on point in terms of uniqueness, and being able to tell characters apart, A couple of the voices weren't to my tastes but that is a personal preference.

Overall a decent listen. It'll be interesting to see where this series goes and hopefully the Author improves in interactions and making the humour a bit more spontaneous

A good addition in the dungeon core genre

I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised by this one. In most cases I'm not a dungeon core guy but this book was very pleasant listen. Amazing performances by the narrators as always with soundbooth theater

Stick with it, it's really worth it.

I'm a big fan of both Portal Books (the publisher) and Sound Booth Theatre, so this seemed a no brainer.

However, at first I found it a little tough to get into and I wasn't sure. But I was wrong! The story sets the groundwork and improves non stop throughout the book, raising itself to really high levels. I am now really excited for the follow up and very much hooked!

The performances were excellent. The main voices are brilliant and as well as displaying the drama, give a varied number of voices for the extra characters. However, where Soundbooth really shines, is bringing in a couple of team members to really make key voices stand out.

Really worth a listen.

The System World

I like how the "Rise of Kers" books are Rooted in the same Universe as the "Dinosaur Dungeon" books and it has the same System and the Isekai Faction, though you do get whats going on in this book alot more when you have Heard/read the Dinosaur Dungeon Books Beforehand, Overall i thought it was a good Book even with it's minor Kinks in the Wrighting, yet it's still a really good First Good to have Published
