About this listen

He made the ultimate sacrifice to save another. Now, he must do it all over again in a world with powerful magic and deadly assassins.

Caleb Helm is ready to start life. But when he heroically rescues a little girl in the street, the Air Force Academy senior can hardly believe it when he himself is run over and killed. And things just get stranger after an otherworldly deity charges him with saving an enchanted realm.

Reincarnated in the body of a 14-year-old boy named Aiden, the former soldier discovers he is a natural prodigy with elemental powers. But though he is sent to the kingdom's premier school, arrogant nobles and destructive beasts threaten to once again end his mission before it can begin.

Can Aiden preserve a people he barely understands and avoid a second death?

Azyl Academy is the captivating first book in the Elemental Gatherers YA portal fantasy series. If you like resourceful heroes, isekai-style stories, and detailed magical settings, then you’ll love Chris Vines’ GameLit adventure.

what I would and do recommend

this is in my top 3 favorite series, it is written in such a way that most if not all age groups could pick this up and find something they can relate and or fall in love with about the series. the main character is what some would call a "goody two-shoes", I heavily disagree with that, if I would sum up the MC in three words it would be kind, resolute and driven, I love the series and heavily recommend giving it a try.

Was too short

I will carry on to book 2, as the story has promise and an interesting slant, but it spends a lot more time on the specifics of growth techniques than character and story line development. None of the core story elements reach any resolution in book one. The mental anguish of the main character being switched from adult to young teenager, in a different body, looks, appearance is barely touched. The speed of his new parents’ acceptance is also hard to credit. The story does have enough merit to justify book 2 - after that will reconsider

Not for me.

The guy is just to nice, honestly I couldn't get past 2/3 hours before checking to see if it changed by the next book. I just found it hard to keep my mind on and started looking for other books.
the book seems well written but if I had to guess its the type of book where he kills someone and later on wines about it for half a book. some people might enjoy that but I like action.
