Summary

Fall in love with this emotional New York Times bestselling romance between two tortured souls who find their chance at happiness in the most unexpected way.

I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin. For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived—and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis . . . and never rights itself again.

Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicates with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us. There's so much more to him than just his beauty, his presence, or the ways his hands communicate with me. On me. But this town is mired in secrets and betrayals, and Archer is the explosive center of it all.

So much passion. And so much hurt. But it's only in Archer's silence that we might just find what we need to heal . . . and live.

Includes an exclusive extended epilogue from Archer's POV!

Named one of the "Top Romance Novels of All Time" by Goodreads!

A New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestseller!

I don’t see the hype around this book

Firstly, I think the narrators ruined this book for me. It was quiet cringey at moments and I found my self rolling my eyes often and skipping through some moments. The storyline was okay but being honest this is probably my least favourite book I’ve listened to yet and I’ve listened to a lot from Colleen hoover and Lucy score.

At a loss for words

I’ve seen this book recommend quite a few times, but wasn’t convinced I’d love it from the overview, and the mixed reviews here, how wrong I was, I absolutely loved it!

It’s simple but so beautiful in many ways, I loved the character of Archer, and revealed in the fact that he wasn’t an overbearing beast of a man like in many romance novels, but quietly beautiful. There were so many moments I just stopped what I was doing to listen completely captivated.

There is nothing profound within this story, given it is a pretty predictable romance, but it fed my soul and reminded me to take a deeper look at the people around me.

Sweet Story

This was a sweet story. I appreciated the effort the author out into writing a character with a disability. It makes me want to be more open to connect to people like Bree. I did find there were moments were things felt a bit random and anticlimactic, like when Archer just suddenly left and Bree was pining for him. Overall, this was a nice read.

Just Wonderful

Can't lie. This is one of my all time favourite reads. Ever! Just loved it. The first book I have read of Mia Sheridan's, but I know It won't be the last. Such a beautiful love story. Instantly fell in love with Archer, his innocence, his honesty and his complete and utter vulnerability. Also fell in love with Bree and her strength and compassion. Both have their demons, both need to fight for their happiness. A truly wonderful story that I know I will re read time and time again. I’ll also add that the audio version captivated me just as much as the written word. Kris Koscheski and Emily Durante narrated with feeling and emotion, retelling the story perfectly.

Just OK For Me

I am in really the minority here as most people loved this book. For me the story is okay, but the writing is very flat and I don't think I'll be recommending the book to anyone.

The characters are one-dimensional and cliched, such as the plot moppet of a dog, the kind widow next door, and the horrible, mean, "wicked witch" style woman who owns the town; the setting is a banal Mayberry-ish small town with overly friendly strangers who tell the new girl in town everything she needs to know exactly when she needs to know it. So much of the conflict is not deeply explored and then resolved too quickly and easily.

In general, there's quite a bit of "telling" in this story where it could be so much stronger by "showing" instead - many reactions and thoughts are weakened with phrasing like "for some reason" or "intuition" or "something didn't feel right" rather than providing the little clues that add up to *why* things don't seem right. I found myself thinking every five minutes "oh please...really?". Everything was easy, a man who didn't interact for ten years with a soul, found a girl and in five minutes everything was fabulous, the drama was always resolved in no time and everything was too mushy. But maybe it was simply not my cup of tea!

Male voice was ok, female voice not good.

MY FAMILY GAVE UP TRYING TO COMMUNICATE WITH ME

What a beautiful, heartbreaking and well written love story this was, I laughed, I cried and I sighed as the H/H fought to stay together through the dramas, through their inner demons and turmoils and whatever else fate through at them. The personal growth and character development was touching to witness. This is a listen whose characters were so likeable I just didn't ever want to say goodbye to them and it's held in a town I'd love to move to.

Worth a credit? Dual POV's, great narration and a captivating very romantic and touching plot added up to an absolutely awesome listen that was well worth a credit and I've pre-ordered ALL other books available by this very gifted Author Mia Sheridan.

Heartbreakingly Beautiful Love Story

My heart. MY HEART. I can barely contain how freaking full my heart feels right now. I had heard so much about this book and how amazing it was, but it never quite seemed to be the right time to move it off my TBR. Finally, I decided to stop waiting and jump right in. I have never been more glad that I did. Archer's Voice was so heartbreakingly and tragically beautiful. It will go down as one of my absolute favorite reads ever.

This was such an emotionally complex story. It was so achingly sweet and gentle at times and then incredibly gut wrenching and painful the next. There was so much raw honesty and sincerity in the words that they took my breath away. I both read and listened to this book, completely immersing myself in the story. Overall, I enjoyed the narration by Kris Koscheski and Emily Durante. It sounded slightly muffled at times, but both delivered emotional performances.

Bree and Archer consumed my thoughts and though I never wanted it to end, I couldn't stop myself from reading/listening to it any moment that I could. It was written so perfectly, causing my heart to soar at just the right time, but also to cry in anguish too. I felt every emotion while reading this book and Archer definitely goes into my book boyfriend hall of fame. His journey through this book was so compelling that I was hanging on every word. There were so many issues, some things seemingly so insignificant, that caused such heartache. There were also hard truths about society and the pain that others can callously inflict. Above all though, it showed the healing power of love and forgiveness.

There's not much that I can add about this story that hasn't been said before, but truly this was an amazing book. Don't hesitate to read/listen to it! This may be my first Mia Sheridan book, but it surely won't be my last!

Beautiful Story 💝

I got this one during a recent sale and after listening I have to admit that the great reviews were absolutely correct. This book hits you emotionally especially if you've ever been teased, bullied, or just felt inadequate in some way. This is a story that builds layers of emotions.......it tugs at your heartstrings.....makes you smile.....and leaves you fulfilled. I enjoyed the journey of love with Archer & Bree and didn't want it to end.

Note: FYI- There are descriptive sex scenes and some swearing. For those who only like "clean reads" you might want to give this one a try. Just forward thru those scenes and the story would be just as good.

I highly recommend this book and I am putting on my repeat list.

This book should be a movie

I absolutely loved this book. I hated for it to end.
I listened from start to finish in one day.
The characters really suck you in.
I couldn't wait to hear what they would do next.
I got this book on sale but it's worth a credit.
I mostly listen to exotic romance and didn't think this book would have any steam.... boy I was wrong.
Both narrator's did a fantastic job to bring the characters to life.
This book had so many emotional layers to it.
One minute it's sad, then funny, then it's, no he didn't just turn into an ass to, ohhh my goodness that's hot.. and Ohh how sweet!
you really want a HEA ending.
And if you wondering.. did they got their HEA ending?
you'll have to listen to find out.

Great Story - Too Much Sex

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this audiobook, but I would warn that the sex was way too overdone throughout the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Archer's Voice?

I loved the connection that the two main characters had the moment they saw each other. I loved the way that the mute character blossomed with the help of Bree. Too many times, people are ignored, as this man had been, before someone takes the time to see what's past the facade.

Which character – as performed by Kris Koscheski and Emily Durante – was your favorite?

I liked both performances and both characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, again because of the elaborate sex scenes. I didn't know this was going to be such a vivid sexual novel or I would not have downloaded it. I read the reviews, which were really good, but will not listen to any more novels by this author.

A heart warming fantastic read!

This book is about a young woman in Ohio that witness's her father's murder and leaves town for places unknown. Bree Prescott ends up in Pelion, Maine, a nice quiet little town. There Bree gets a job as a waitress and one day as she is leaving the small town grocery store, she bumps into Archer, a man with no voice.

Travel along with Bree and Archer as they discover each other and what life is really about. Learn what each of them is running from and who they really are.

This is is incredibly beautiful and heart warming! I fell in love with this book right from the start. Bree is an exceptional woman and Archer is a man, every woman could fall in love with. I will warn you, bring tissues!

This is my first read by Author Mia Sheridan. Mia caught my interest in the prologue and held it the entire book! The narrators, Kris Koscheski and Emily Durante did a fantastic job delivering this story with so much heart and raw emotion and LOVE. This is such a great book, if I could give it 10 stars, I would!

Heart Breaker but in a Good Way

Get your tissues out because you will cry. The story of Archer and Bree's love is an emotional roller coaster. You only want the best for these two because their life up until they met each other is full of tragedy. This is a really good story but there are some really, really sad parts. If you are not ready to cry, then wait until you feel stronger. It's highly worth the credit, though.
