Encouraging, Informative, and Actionable

If you lack trust in your relationships and see relationships through a prism of fear, you likely suffer from anxious attachment. In that case, I strongly recommend this book. It does an excellent job of describing what anxious attachment is, why and how it develops based on childhood experiences, and how you can change your mindset. As the book explains, anxious attachment often arises from inconsistent caregiving and/or traumatic experiences such as abandonment. This, in turn, can create a mindset of distortions such as catastrophizing. However, the good news presented in the book is that you can change this mindset through various techniques, such as mindfulness, acknowledging negative core beliefs, and challenging those beliefs through reframing and self-compassion. The message is that, with work on yourself, you can develop a secure attachment style and have trusting and supportive relationships. The writing is clear and encouraging, and the narration is wonderfully supportive.

Great for people struggling in relationships

If you are struggling in your relationships but don't know why, this book might have the answers. It does a good job of outlining the anxiety attachment style, how it develops and what it looks like when it manifests in relationships. There are examples given throughout using couples to help make the material more easy to understand and identify with. I particularly liked the recommendations for using a journal and also breaking down emotions into more detailed segments to understand what is going on.

Realistic and Practical

Breaking free from old patterns is kinda hard to do. This book helps me to open a new perspective in dealing with those issues, currently right now, my partner and I is not really on good terms, but somehow this book helps me to expand my views and hopefully, will manage to talk about our issues more.
