About this listen

A new adventure series set in the Land of Stories universe from the number one New York Times best-selling author Chris Colfer, perfect for new and old fans! For fans of the School for Good and Evil and Pages & Co.

When Brystal Evergreen stumbles across a secret section of the library, she discovers a book that introduces her to a world beyond her imagination and learns the impossible: she is a fairy capable of magic! But in the oppressive Southern Kingdom, women are forbidden from reading and magic is outlawed, so Brystal is swiftly convicted of her crimes and sent to the miserable Bootstrap Correctional Facility.

But with the help of the mysterious Madame Weatherberry, Brystal is whisked away and enrolled in an academy of magic! Adventure comes with a price, however, and when Madame Weatherberry is called away to attend to an important problem, she doesn't return.

Do Brystal and her classmates have what it takes to stop a sinister plot that risks the fate of the world and magic forever?

Fall in love with an all-new series filled with adventure, imagination and magic.

Magical!

I loved this!!! The story was engaging and had so many moments where I’d have to pause it just to get excited. The world and the characters were interesting and realised, and the fact it was narrated by the author himself was a lovely touch, though it did make me realise how heavily the characters skewed female. Really lovely!

all the lore in this stood out the most to me and I was left in tears the first time I read it.

the way the characters are described makes this book so good and I genuinely forgot this was a book and not real at times, Chris colfer is officially my favourite author and his other book series related to this is also brilliant.

Amazing

I love this book because I’ve listened to the other series, the ‘Land of Stories’ one (set in the same world). I’ve listened to the others so many times and adored them, and now there’s a whole new series set in the same place which is really exciting for me. I also really liked the next one in this series and can’t wait for more.

Tale about magic- reviewed

I think that “a tale about magic” is a very good book, it’s enjoyable through text and audible and I think that it’s a very creative and an excellent book to put on audible. However, I do wish that audible had a way of selecting WHO narrated the story, due to how some people can be very sensitive to different voices. Despite that, the book is wonderful and audible has done a fantastic job translating it!
