Summary

Maximus Drago is out searching for supplies for his mother when he ends up in a fight for his life.

Injured, he ends up saving a legendary creature, then bonds with it. After he heals, he has no idea of what life has for him, but fate has decided on what he has to become.

This book has harem elements/unconventional relationships, sexual content and cursing. It is intended for mature listeners. The MC ends up being over powered, but who doesn't like a badass, right?

I have a problem with this

Their are problems I have with this book, there are Inconsistencies that make certain things wrong. 1st off I don't have a problem with overcoming the traumatic events like what happened to his lion wife I do however find it strange that she allowed him to be sexually assaulted in his sleep and also Participated in the action. After she had gone through being someone's plaything for a year I would think she wouldn't allow that to happen to the man who saved her loved and guided her through the trauma that she's was forced to endure. Simply to Write this off as as just sexy fun and not that serious to a person like Max Who doesn't let anyone do anything he doesn't like or agree with regardless of who they are kind of minimalizes his character.

Making Valencia's character unbothered and agreeable to the act of letting her man be raped in his sleep by women who weren't apart of his family and even participating in the act makes what she went through seem more or less meaningless. There are certainly ways to handle sex scenes with characters but this wasn't the way to do it.

Terrible narration

Male voices I mostly could tolerate, but female voices sound like helium and alcohol were being used by the narrator.
I could only listen to it a 1/3 of the way thru before it became to unbearable
I actually enjoyed the book so went back reread it instead of listening to anymore

So so

The female narrator’s voices aren’t the greatest. Male narrator is good.

The writing is not my favorite of Xander’s. The idea is good but the execution isn’t as good as his later books.

Female Narrator ruined a great book

I’ve read all of Xander Jades books and I’ve got all the audiobooks and this is by far the WORSE Narration I’ve heard next to Marcus Jahn… Katie Hutch ruined the whole book.. I’d be mad if I had to pay a voice actress for this cause wow who can listen to this…

Jack did okay but even at times he even gets all tinny and overly complicated the voices… come on now this was the worse Audiobook narration I’ve ever heard and I have 1000 books in my library…

Xander Jade I’d say get a new Narrative team on this one, Jack was fine but my gosh Katie was a nightmare, ANY I MEAN ANY female VA could have did better, heck Jack could have done her part better.

This ruined my excitement for this series and if she’s still VA in the next one I’ll not be buying the audiobook

Looking forward to next

Great start to a new adventure
Female narrator was only down fall to many female characters for her to try and change her voice for
Kinda slow start but didn’t take long to make it interesting
Going to listen to it again after I got it done

start was great

the start was great. mc was interesting and his growth was cool. and then halfway through he started building his group of girls and all of a sudden he became a sad excuse for an mc. and the way he talked sounded more like some 11-year-old boy. the narrator was good except the girls did work well.

don't just dont

basically everything is wrong with this book. it feels like it was written by a 13 year old. the dialog is so inhuman. and it's trope galore. literally the mc within 2 or 3 days rescues 2 princess, and saves a mage randomly who was apparently looking for him all her life. he never hits anything but headshots and neck shots. is apparently a master with every weapon in 5 years(better than the 5 time kingdoms champion). the voices are weird. like every character under 30 talks with a child's voice. and the 3rd person narration feels like a story being told to you by your dad or something

fantastic

very few books I have enjoyed this much. the story and plot were great. the mc is becoming very op but he is not an ass. he does not even come across arogant. he is confident.
maybe jack Douglas is the reason for the mc to come across believable and likeable. this book has probably 100 prominent characters and the narrators both did an excellent job.
I thought the author did a great job. the story moved fast we got lots of answers. he did not use stupid characters witholding vital information to hold suspense. we did not have 45 minute boss fights. mc whipped ass and moved on and collected another wife. oh. and the author did not use some stupid cliffhanger. but I will get the second volumn immediately
