Summary

When I went to my neighbor's apartment to investigate strange sounds, I never expected to fall through a portal into another world. Yet here I am, a stranger in an even stranger land...and I'm stranded. In this world, might makes right, men carry swords, and gods walk the earth. Within minutes of arriving, I'm enslaved.

The one person that might be able to help me is also the one person I want to throttle most. Aron, Lord of Storms, Butcher God of Battle, is my new companion. Or rather, I'm his. As Aron's anchor to the mortal realm, I'm the one that's supposed to be guiding him through his exile in the mortal world.

But Aron and I have a common goal - get home. And we're bonded - anchor and god - with a bond unlike any other. So, we travel together. We bicker. We bathe together. We fight our many, many enemies together. And sure, he's a god, but he's also an arrogant jerk. Brawny, smoking hot, irresistible jerk. I should want nothing to do with him. I certainly shouldn't want to do things to him.

Contains mature themes.

swoon

loved this romantic epic ,very normal girl from Chicago somehow finds herself on another plane and plunged into a situation where she has to be a mortal anchor for a battle god thrown out of heaven.
its a gorgeous tapestry of a story with a host of characters, kings Queens beggars and other gods.
the romance is slow burn that is hot when it eventually ignites. out of all of Ruby's books I have read this is the best.

Brilliant

Takes a little while to get going but once Faith is in the other world, it takes off like a rocket. The ncredibly inventive.

Creative

A very different story to what I'm used to from Ruby Dixon, but in a good way. The story was creative, but I think the content could have been condensed more because it was a very long read. Certain aspects could have been removed to make the story flow better.

another great start to another series from Ruby

firstly, the performance of the narrator is excellent, she switchs up pitch tone and emotions to create each of the characters, she encapsulated Faith impeccably making it a very enjoyable listening experience. I loved faith's character, her reactions and emotions were so genuine, she was also brave, determined and caring and understood her Lord of Storm's beautifully.
I'm definitely going to be carrying on with the series.

Enjoyable listen

This was a good book and I enjoyed it. It was on course to get five stars, but the pace and story waned a bit later on in the book and I felt less engaged. I’ll still get more by this author and in this series, though.

God and mortal romance

I don't really know how to review this. I kept listening since I wanted to know what was going to happen, so the story is great, but I'm not really sure I liked either of the characters, even by the end. The performance was completely ok, but nothing stood out as amazing.

Plot: Interesting plot with lots of unexpected twists and turns. This was definitely a plot-driven fantasy romance. You get a Happily Ever After and introduction to other characters that'll probably be the main characters in other books in the series.

Characters: I just keep wondering 'why' and despite this being over 20 hours, I don't think either character had much of a back story. Why are they the way they are? Why do they have their flaws and strong points. It's a mystery. Our main male character's god-given flaw is arrogance, so you end up with a VERY arrogant main character that likes war and violence. Never figured out what she saw in him, Stockholm syndrome since she was attached to him and couldn't leave?

It was a good audiobook, pretty decently performed. Worth a listen if you have extra hours to use up, but not my favorite I've ever listened to, but I finished it because the story was good.

A slow burn romance.

I really liked this book. It is one of my new favourite ones from Ruby Dixon. It reminded me off Kristen Ashley fantasy land series which I absolutely loved.
Aron is arrogant and aggravating, but in a way that is funny because he doesn't know any better. He is a God and acts very much like one at times with his attitude. However, as the book goes on he becomes somewhat affectionate and possessive towards his Anchor, Faith. The way he was portrayed was spot one. His visible character growth was one of the things that made the book enjoyable.
Faith was Aron's perfect match. She was smart, sassy and very courageous. She held her own throughout the entire book, giving just as much as she received. She was funny and sarcastic and made me laugh a lot.
I really hope that Ruby Dixon does another one of these books as I enjoyed this one a lot. I would very much like to know how the other gods and their anchors were with each other. Hopefully, quite like Aron and Faith to begin with. Looking forward to the next book if there is one.

Interesting story

An interesting story. I liked the world Ruby Dixon created. Faith was strong, adaptable and snarky. She had a lot of gumption and courage to survive the strange new world she suddenly found herself stuck in. Aron was true to his name and I loved the growth his character went under throughout the book. He stayed mostly true to his nature and didn't change completely which seemed more realistic than a 180 degree turn would have felt.
Narration was good and overall I liked the book and may listen to the rest in the series.
