Summary
Lady Iolanthe of Rockmourn Keep expects to be a spinster all her days. She is very tall. She is very poor. And she is thirty. What lord could possibly want her?
But then her father returns with news that he has found a bridegroom for her—one that is impressively tall. One that is strong, and bold, and wealthy. And best of all? He wants Iolanthe. It seems too good to be true.
And when Iolanthe gets her first look at her husband-to-be, she realizes why.

Expectations vs. reality
Honestly, it's just one smut scene after another. I really hoped for a good storyline. If your expectations are for more depth, then this is NOT worth the credit.

There’s such a thing as too much nooky
This was all about half-orc Akakor introducing innocent Iolanthe to pleasure while undergoing a number of made up marriage traditions of the human and orc variety. It was mostly sweet but with too much emphasis on her sexual awakening and all of her first times. Seriously, this was 90% sex and 10% story.
Mr. Calley’s narration was fine, but his tone felt like a wiry Scotsman rather than a huge half-orc with tusks. Still, the biggest disappointment was the scarcity of plot, action, or dialogue for anything other than their physical explorations.
This is also a sort of re-write of the author’s Royal Wedding series, which begins with The King’s Spinster Bride and features a barbarian guy who takes a royal lady amid his barbarian marriage customs (which are the same “sexy” customs as this book, which revolve around exhibitionism and objectifying women). The King’s Spinster Bride is more of a slow burn, but is currently free in Audible Plus, so if you’re on the fence, consider trying that one out first.

Boring
I have loved Dixon's other work...but this one was too fluffy and boring. it read as an instruction manual more than a novel. Bummer

Too short!!!
I Have fallen in love with Ruby Dixon! Her books are awesome and this is one of my favorites.. My only complaint is that it's too short! She could have done so much more with the story!! I love Ioanthie and Agricore...they help wach other come to a place of love and acceptance! Perfection!

Cute story
I liked this book, I root for the underdogs in the story. It was great to see what others perceived as ugly was beautiful in the eyes of the beholder. Narrators did a great job. Would have continued to the next book had this been a series.

I liked it.
yes...there were several long intimate scenes...they serve to show the care taken by the main male character with the main female character. this was a sweet and funny story. I enjoyed the narrators both and the storyline.

Beautifully written and a unique romance
Another awesome story written by my favorite author. I also enjoyed the narration. Carmen Rose voice and inflection was perfect in keeping with the time period the story takes place and Dan Calley has a perfect voice for the half-orc. This book has to be one of my all time favorites.

Fast fun read
Low angst, fun, and cute story. Readers inflection and voice pattern, especially the woman's, was super annoying, constantly ending on an upturn like every sentence was a question. The man's was similar but not as bad. But beyond that, good story.
