Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The next gripping, emotional and twisty psychological thriller from Lia Middleton, author of When They Find Her.

When 15-year-old Anabelle King was assaulted on her way home, she thought she had done everything right. But a vital piece of evidence meant that the jury let her attacker go.

Eighteen years later, Anabelle King is now Ava Knight, a successful barrister who always follows the rules. But that all changes when, one day at court, she reads a familiar name in the file: Michael Osborne. But this time he is the victim of an attack, and in the dock is a young girl: Lily Hawthorne, who pleads guilty without hesitation.

Ava is sure that Lily's plea is not the truth. She knows this man is not innocent. But as she gets more entangled in the case, how much will she have to risk to uncover the truth?

Loved it

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, the narrators were both brilliant and brought the characters to life. I was hooked from the beginning.

One of the best books I’ve listened to this year. Can’t wait for the next one, a prequel to this one would be a good idea too.

AMAZING!

Totally hooked from the beginning, even tried to stretch it out as I didn’t want it to end. The voice of Ava/Belle was so easy to listen to. Transporting you to feel every word! Absolute must read/listen ! Loved it!

Brilliant!

Lia Middleton captured me from start to finish. The Narrators we’re excellent as I am quite fussy with who I listen to.
I hope Lia brings out more books, she is definitely one of my favourites!

Engaging enough to finish but not great

Managed to finish this but felt like a chore towards the end. Fairly flat characters and the girl playing Lily sounded pure middle class stage school - not like the character was supposed to be at all. Didn't really care what happened to the main character by the end as she was pretty dull and not likeable.

Not bad but meanders a lot

Well narrated and although similar to Anatomy of a Scandal, different enough to keep me interested. Had my doubts that such a clever and intelligent barrister would risk so much in her pursuit of justice but just about stayed on the right side of believable Not a bad way to pass over 11 hours and hope you will agreee.

Extremely interesting and well formulated

I got a bit frustrated at the beginning but actually it panned out very well absorbing interesting story and if you feel driven for justice this is the one for you

Fantastic

Her first book was the best book I read last year and I was sure the second wouldn't live up to it - I was wrong!

If you haven't already read the first - do!
