Detective Anna Travis is tasked with reviewing an open-and-shut case when a young man, awaiting trial for robbery, casts doubt on the ruling. A nightclub owner was found dead from a single bullet wound to the head, with the gun held in his hand. It was determined to be suicide, but the young man claims it was murder.
Once she wraps up the investigation, Anna's boss promises her a place at the FBI Academy, but the arrival of a senior agent soon ruffles feathers in the team. What should have been a simple case of tying up loose ends becomes a political nightmare and Anna is forced to decide where her loyalties lie.

Good Listen!
As usual incredibly well written, very well read and full of information and interesting facts that help to make it so good.
Anna Travis becomes a real person you feel you know as you work you way though the books and see her change and grow.

Excellent read, what an intriguing story
Love it. One of best Lynda la Plante books in my opinion. Also the narrator is simply the best. Recommended!

Great story
Great Story and good narration. One thing that did bug me was how Anna seemed to not know what Jimson Weed was despite it being a major part of a previous book and was used by her bf to kill a suspect in custody

Very good listen
I didn’t dislike any thing but I did feel it was a little too long. Overall it was excellent as usual with this author.
