Summary

A month ago, I was a rookie with the best stats in the league. I was traveling the world, playing hockey, and making more money than I ever dreamed.

Then my sister showed up on my doorstep with nowhere else to go.

I don’t know the first thing about being responsible for a troubled teen, and the team jet isn’t exactly kid-friendly.

Enter Piper. My sister’s new teacher and nanny.

Smart, nurturing, and just as beautiful as I remember.

Too bad she hates my guts.

We need her.

And this time, I’m not letting her go.

Wild About You is a full-length second chance romance with a grumpy NHL player, his teenage sister, and the ex-girlfriend he never forgot.

The Wildcats are the youngest team in the NHL. On the ice, they’re cocky, determined, and ready to take the league by storm. Off the ice? They’re always up for a wild time.

Dreamy second chance sports romance

Wild About You is book two in the Wildcat Hockey series and is the second chance romance of Tyler Sharp and Piper Vaughn.
Tyler is the youngest guy on the Wildcat hockey team at 22 years old. He is garnering lots of attention due to his amazing stats which has him known in the league as a rising star and one to watch. Tyler has worked very hard and sacrificed a lot to make his pro hockey dream come true and just as he finally feels things are falling into place for him his world is turned upside down when his teenage sister Everly turns upon his doorstep looking for a fresh start. So, this is how Tyler finds himself juggling his career travelling with the team and caring for his sister and all that comes with being a guardian. He doesn’t think his life can get any more complicated, then he comes face to face with his ex-girlfriend Piper, who is a student teacher at Everly’s new school, and all the feelings he thought he’d tucked away come rushing back to the surface.
Piper has only been a student teacher at an elite private school in Minnesota for a month when she crosses paths with her high school boyfriend Tyler, the guy who broke her heart. She last saw him when they were 18, when for eight months they’d been head over heels in love. Piper forms a real bond with Everly, Tyler’s sister and agrees to help out when Tyler and the team are travelling, in exchange Tyler gives her a place to stay when she needs one. As Piper and Everly grow closer and Everly starts to settle into life in Minnesota, her grades improve, and Piper and Tyler begin grow close again. Are exes just that for a reason or can taking a second chance with someone you once loved lead you to the perfect happily ever after?
Joe Arden and Emma Wilder narrate this gorgeous sports romance. Joe as always delivered a flawless performance as the hockey rookie pulled in all directions who just wants to do right by everyone. Emma’s portrayal of sweet, sassy, and loving Piper is beautiful. I loved seeing Emma take her from hurt and cautious to open, loving and willing to take a chance.
I loved this audiobook; it was the perfect addition to what is shaping up to be a phenomenal sports romance series. I can’t wait to get to know more of the Wildcats and see them get the happily ever afters they deserve!

The most perfect love story

Once again the author blew me away with the most perfect love story.

Piper and Tyler had been highschool long distance sweethearts until he decided he was keeping her from living her life and broke up with her. Fast forward four years, Ty is now a professional hockey player who’s taking care of his younger half-sister who’s run away from her dysfuncional home. And surprise, Piper is a student teacher at her school. That’s exactly the second chance Tyler was waiting for. Now to convince her they’re made for each other.

The romance was perfect. After having her heart broken by Tyler, Piper has put up walls, and I loved seeing him trying to wear them down slowly. Through nice gestures and support, he reminds her of what they were to each other once, and what they could be again. The epitome of second chance. They still acknowledge that they’re now grown ups, that they both have changed. But their feelings have not.

But even more than the romance, I loved the theme of parenthood that the author develops in various ways. You have Piper’s relationship with her dad and how it changed after he had a stroke. You have Tyler’s resentment to his mother and how he felt not wanted. You have Everly, Tyler’s sister, and the troubles she gets in to get some attention from both her parents. And you have Tyler and his struggles to become a worthy guardian for his sister. Everly is the prism that reflects the light towards the various relationships in the story.

The ambiguity of Tyler’s relationship with Everly, not exactly a parent, but way more than a brother, was quite interesting. And I loved how he sought educative advices from Piper–one more thing that helped them getting close again. And how he counted one his teammates to be surrogate brothers to his sister. In the middle of this chaotic family life, Everly bloomed, and it was a beautiful thing to read.

There wasn’t a lot of on ice action, but the interactions between Tyler and his teammates was a huge part of the story, as well as how the teammates got involved in Tyler’s dramas. I loved their strong friendship.

I’ll end with Everly. I’ve rarely read about a rebel teenager written so well. There’s a reason she’s got an attitude, and the troubles she gets in mostly served as a call for help and attention. And it was great to see how Tyler–with Piper’s advices–chose to listen instead of punish. Really beautiful.

The author knows how to choose the cast for her audiobooks! Both narrators gave the right energy to their character, bringing them to life in the most perfect way. The side characters were perfect too, especially the sister. A good example of how to bring a great book to another level.

Wild about this series

The audio of this is fabulous. This gave me plenty of feels. It's a second chance romance between high school sweethearts Tyler and Piper. Tyler let her go when he had to break too many commitments for hockey and now they are back in each others orbit. Piper is a student teacher st Tyler's sisters school. And the feelings haven't gone away on either of their parts. It has a lot less actual hockey than I'm used to in my hockey romances, but it is heavy on the family, both true and Found. I enjoyed this a whole lot and it further cements to me how high RJ and her sports romances will always be on my TBR.
