Summary
A trail of secrets. A dangerous discovery. A deadly turn.
Police officer Sebastian Clifford never planned on becoming a private investigator. But when a scandal leads to the disbandment of his London based special squad, he finds himself out of a job. That is, until his cousin calls on him to investigate her husband’s high-profile death, and prove that it wasn’t a suicide.
Clifford’s reluctant to get involved, but the more he digs, the more evidence he finds. With his ability to remember everything he's ever seen, he's the perfect person to untangle the layers of deceit.
He meets Detective Constable Bird, an underutilized detective at Market Harborough’s police force, who refuses to give him access to the records he’s requested unless he allows her to help with the investigation. Clifford isn't thrilled. The last time he worked as part of a team it ended his career. But with time running out, Clifford is out of options. Together they must wade through the web of lies in the hope that they’ll find the truth before it kills them.
Includes bonus story Nowhere to Hide.

Fantastic
I’m a Jonathan Keeble groupie! Very good story made even better by his narration, he is marvellous and I’m now just filtering on books read by him! I can absolutely recommend this book, interesting, witty and brilliantly performed. Thank you.

Web of lies
Format: audiobook
Narrator: Jonathan Keeble
I’ve read some of the Cavendish and Walker series by this author so it was a no brainier for me to pick up this one and I’m glad I did.
Sebastian Clifford is an ex police officer and while he decides what to do with the rest of his life he reluctantly agrees to look into the apparent suicide of his cousin’s husband after she asks for his help as she doesn’t believe he took his own life.
This story moves along at quite a gentle pace but that doesn’t mean it’s boring, far from it, I love DC Lucinda Bird’s aka Birdie character and the easy going relationship that quickly develops between them.
Overall a good easy read story that kept me enthralled all rhe way through. I’ll happily pick up the 2nd book.
The narrator was perfect in his delivery and portrayal of the characters especially Clifford.

Good spin off
I love that it's a spin off from Cavendish & walker.
A very good story with a surprising conclusion.
Over-all the narration is very good, the only let down is the narrator makes one of the main characters sound very childish,

Great story
Yet again another story brilliantly narrated by Jonathan Keeble - a good narrator makes or brakes the author’s words

Entertaining and enjoyable.
Sally Rigby does write a good story, if a bit short. This story is better value for money with a run time longer than her average 6hrs 40 mins. Mr Keeble is a good narrator except for his female voices which border on the comical. I appreciate its difficult for male doing female and vice versa. Good enough listen nevertheless if a little lacking in excitement.

Entertaining enough read
I found the narration acceptable but wasn't over keen on the main character's voice - bit too cliched. The storyline was entertaining but fairly predictable.

Market Harbouring Killer
Quirky narration, radio'play'esque, which in places is slightly OTT giving panto dame vibes for the female/child characters. The first 10 minutes almost made me switch off, but then I got used to it and settled in to listen in ernest.
The snakes and ladders aspect of the detailed investigation kept me interested. The MCs (Sebastian: venerable; revered; Birdy: sparrow like) interact well and perform their roles confidently with no crushing faux pas or idiotic statements to show one character's intelligence/dominance over the other.
There is a strange range of annoying Americanizms: "sucked", "off the bat" (a baseball term I believe) "arsewipe" "gotten" "Rule 101" (An American Court term) and other terms peppered throughout, which disturb the enjoyable flow of an Englishness, but what really annoyed me was the book ended 1hr 34 mins off the run time, making way for a "prequel" to the main novel.
ENJOYABLE

Entertaining book
This book is a change to have one which is well-written as well as having the best narrator in the business. With an excellent storyline, including some interesting twists, being read by Mr. Keeble, whose superb charactisations of the various persona, you couldn’t want anything more, unless it’s more of the same!!
