Summary

Every house has secrets. But not all of them stay buried forever...

When the Burgess family move into their 'forever' home, it seems like they are set for many happy years together at their new address. Steph and Grant, along with their children, Charlie and Amelia, settle into their new surroundings quickly. But then they receive an unexpected visit from a couple who claim to have lived in the house before.

They wish to come in and have a look around for old time's sake. Seeming pleasant and plausible, Steph invites them in. And that's when things begin to change. It's not long after the peculiar visit when the homeowners begin to find evidence of the past all around their new home as they redecorate. But it's the discovery of a hidden wall containing several troubling messages that really sends Steph into a spin.

After digging into the history of the house a little more, she learns it is connected to a shocking crime from the past. A crime that still remains unsolved...

Good twist

Really enjoyed this - a really enjoyable quick listen with a good twist at the end. However I felt the narration really let this one down. The male narrator spoke too quickly and mumbled, making large chunks really difficult to follow.

Loved this!

Really enjoyed the story and the female narrator, however I found the male narrator a bit fast speaking and a little bit dull. This didn’t spoil the book for me thankfully!

Oh dear!

I’m sorry to say that I don’t enjoy this audio book. The story was lacklustre, it plodded its way through, with the narrators sounding slightly fed up themselves. The characters had no redeeming qualities for me and I’m sorry to say, I was pleased when it ended.

Disappointing

The book is not well written. The characters are one dimensional and it is difficult to care what happens to them.
The male narrator does not help by giving the impression of having somewhere else to be, gabbling through the dialogue in a disinterested manner which has no prospect of engaging the listener.
Perhaps he was as bored by this disappointing book as I was.
