Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Escape this winter with the heart-warming and uplifting new novel from the number one best-selling author Giovanna Fletcher.

In the darkness, we all need a little light....

After Mike loses Pia, his partner of 17 years, their best friends Vicky and Zaza try to help pick up the pieces.

But though Pia's gone, she left a plan. A list of loving instructions to help Mike and her friends come to terms with their loss.

And they're each going to need it....

Just-engaged Zaza fears committing any further.

Exhausted mother and wife Vicky has lost sight of herself.

While Mike just feels all the colour has gone from his life.

When the list sends them trekking to Peru, where high mountains and sweltering rainforests push them to the brink, all they have to guide them is their faith in Pia and in themselves.

But will they learn that anything is possible when you're walking on sunshine?

Friends you didn't know and now will never forget

Oh, my goodness... I have loved this book. I loved the characters from the get go. I walked every step of their adventure and felt their loss.

I have laughed, cried and spoken to them in their time of need... literally speaking to the car sound system (Audible on my commute). Getting out on the commute has been a 'can't wait to get going' part of my day.

I loved the different perspectives of each character, their thoughts on each situation they faced and I know if I had met Pia when she was here, I would have loved her too.

Enjoy x

Disappointed

Poorly developed story, very predictable. If you want a VERY easy listen, this is the one.

Beautifully written and read

I normally do not buy books that have different chapters describing the story view of different characters but this book captivated me,

The reading by 3 different people added to the story and kept me wanting to listen

Light read and evokes reflection

The characters had me in tears in the end. The story of three friends facing many real life challenges meant this was relatable and interesting. The beginning was slow going and I wasn’t sure if it was the writing or narrators but after the characters were fully formed I couldn’t stop listening

Made me reflect

loved this book. Made me reflect on my life and struggles of being a mum. Really enjoyed the story. Loved that each person in the story was read by a different person

very disappointing

I really wanted to like this, but after 2 hours of boring dialogue I gave up. There's far too much irrelevant detail, we don't need to know what make of trainers or handbag someone has. I didn't find any of the characters interesting, they were bland and self absorbed. I particularly found the 'mum' character incredibly grating.

Very grateful to Audible for accepting the return and giving me my credit back.

Meh

This pains me to say as I love Gi and her other books but I couldn't wait for this to be over. I didn't feel anything towards the characters and the story was a bit meh.

Enjoyable, lighthearted but serious at the same time!

Enjoyed this book, very amusing, very believable, covering topics such as motherhood, relationships, death and travel.

A beautiful story!

I was considering the story as depressing at first due to the emotional strains of the characters. As I kept listening each personality was challenged and through the bonding glue of friendship their true "packed away" self was rediscovered. Truely beautiful.
