Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Escape this winter with the heart-warming and uplifting new novel from the number one best-selling author Giovanna Fletcher.

In the darkness, we all need a little light....

After Mike loses Pia, his partner of 17 years, their best friends Vicky and Zaza try to help pick up the pieces.

But though Pia's gone, she left a plan. A list of loving instructions to help Mike and her friends come to terms with their loss.

And they're each going to need it....

Just-engaged Zaza fears committing any further.

Exhausted mother and wife Vicky has lost sight of herself.

While Mike just feels all the colour has gone from his life.

When the list sends them trekking to Peru, where high mountains and sweltering rainforests push them to the brink, all they have to guide them is their faith in Pia and in themselves.

But will they learn that anything is possible when you're walking on sunshine?

Friends you didn't know and now will never forget

Oh, my goodness... I have loved this book. I loved the characters from the get go. I walked every step of their adventure and felt their loss.

I have laughed, cried and spoken to them in their time of need... literally speaking to the car sound system (Audible on my commute). Getting out on the commute has been a 'can't wait to get going' part of my day.

I loved the different perspectives of each character, their thoughts on each situation they faced and I know if I had met Pia when she was here, I would have loved her too.

Enjoy x

A true joy

The book perfectly captures the joy in working through the pain of life. The 3 main characters echo with parts of my own life. Whilst listening to this book I have laughed, cried and learnt from the revelations of the characters and plot. Highly recommended, the perfect weekend read.

Emotional and warm

I am a huge fan of Giovanna Fletcher's books but felt this one was a little different. Giovanna's style is usually rom-com and sweet whereas I felt this one has a bit more of a message to it. I loved the themes throughout for the three different characters, including grief, the struggles of motherhood and self doubt, and all of their story arches. (Also loved the little nods not just to her other books but also to Izzi Judd at the end!)
Performance wise, the story is narrated well, Elliot Cowan's voice is dreamy and delicious and Giovanna and Pippa act the story convincingly. I would recommend!

Left me Walking on Sunshine!

What a fantastic book. A totally relatable story without having to go on a trek. I listened on my walk to and from work and found tears rolling down my face as I walked in parts but well worth looking a little silly.

what a powerful read

From the prologue till the epilogue the story had me captivated, its a heartfelt story of 3 friends who each have their own issues and shared grief for their loved one. Vicky juggles motherhood in an honest way, with tantrums and tears, while Zaza struggles with committing to the one love shes found fearing the never again firsts. Mike is mourning his beautiful wife and how he will be able to live again without her. I love that Peru was involved following Giovannas recent trip. its just a 5 star wow 👏

A beautiful story!

I was considering the story as depressing at first due to the emotional strains of the characters. As I kept listening each personality was challenged and through the bonding glue of friendship their true "packed away" self was rediscovered. Truely beautiful.
