Summary

Sometimes fate gets it all wrong.

Zoey Kent has lived with that fact ever since she turned eighteen and learned that the man she loved could never be hers. He's a born shifter, a wolf, and she's a mere human. She isn't his fated mate and she's resigned herself to the knowledge that someday, she'll have to watch Michael mate with another. It's never crossed her mind that there might be someone else out there for her, that she would be the one to mate another, to choose another over everything she's ever known or wanted.

Sometimes fate gets it all right.

Rafe Hudson left his pack behind years ago. Physically and mentally scarred from an attack that left his parents and twin dead, he walked away from his responsibilities as Alpha. He never intended to return but lone wolf or not, he can't leave Michael open to an attack he's learned is coming for his only brother. What he didn't know was that going home would mean scenting his mate, the one person in the world that could make him whole again, that could give him everything he thought he'd lost.

But fate always has a plan.

Contains mature themes.

Narrator can’t say ‘wolf’!

I don’t often write narrator complaints but this time I needed to. There is an ‘L’ in wolf. The narrator can’t say the word. She says ‘woof’ every time. Sad because it’s a very common word in a shifter book about wolves!

No story, no action, no fun

I decided to finish this book, even if it had a rough start. I regret it. The promised action is just ignored until the epilog, where they say it's for the next book.

Could be better

Sadly there’s way too much repetition… I actually found myself cringing every time the word “mate” was said. The narrators voice was robotic at times & I really struggled to finish the book. Story had lots of unfinished leads.

hard work

I struggled to finish this book. lots of unnecessary repetition. surely the storyline could have been put into 6 chapters, the ending was nonsense, we all know Michael will come and save the day, this could have been in the book instead of leading into the next book, I presume that's where she was leading, I certainly won't be putting myself through that either way.

Could be better

The storyline had potential, but there was too much repetition, and I felt I fell into a loop sometimes. I wished there were more pack interactions and different characters. There was too much time wasted in them making love, and I was hoping there would be more time spent on Rafe healing, sorting out pack problems, and helping the other pack.
The narrator sounded a bit robotic to me.

Buy the book and read it!

Great story but oh my gosh the narration - the female aspects of the narration are fine almost soothing but the 'male' is cringe worthy it felt inappropriate to listen to some of the story as it sounded like a pre teen boy narrating.
