Summary
Vampires slaughtered my family. No one believed me until I met some new friends, who promised to help me get justice.
But nothing prepared me for Marcus Varik. Tall, dark, and mind-numbingly sexy. But he’s also shy, protective, and adorably eccentric.
Oh God, I should have never agreed to betray him. Hopefully, it's not too late to fix my mistake before I lose more people I love.
Claiming Marcus is the first book in an MM paranormal romance series that has vampires, betrayal, annoying brothers, music, heartbreak, hope, sexy times, and a raven named Ozzie.

🎧Kenneth's Audioslaves Reviewer🎧
Claiming Marcus (Lords of Discord Book 1) by Jocelynn Drake. I enjoyed this book A good start to the series. This story develops nicely. A good combination of world building and character development. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
The Narrator Kenneth Obi did a fantastic job bringing these characters and story to life.

Falling in love with your vampire boss!
Ethan is after revenge - vampires killed his entire family. He gets a job with Marcus, one of the Varik vampires, so he can get info on the family but doesn’t count on falling for him. I didn’t mind this, Ethan was a substantial character and the political manoeuvrings of the vampire hierarchy were interesting. I found Marcus a little bit of a caricature, I wanted to know more of his thoughts, and it’s possibly why the relationship felt a little instalove-ish - I would have liked the relationship to have been a bit more hard won. The final action scenes seem to resolve suddenly, I expected them to be more substantial. I’ll read more of this series because I’m keen to see how the politics plays out. 🎧 Kenneth Obi provided a solid narration.

A vampire story
I love vampire stories and Claiming Marcus didn't disappoint. Marcus and his three brothers are forming the Varik family with their maker Aiden who cares for them as a father. They are all very protective of each other and try to keep away from other vampires in their struggle for power. Ethans family has been killed by vampires and he is the only survivor from their apartment floor and he still remembers the voices of the killers. When Marcus offers Ethan a temporarily job to help him move house he gladly accepts if only to find the killers of his family. But what he finds is a close family to which he is drawn to. Soon Marcus and Ethan can't keep their hands of each other and that is when the problems start. Someone is after Marcus and his family and Ethan needs to protect them. But he is only human and his joyful nature is not enough to keep everyone and himself safe. Kenneth Obi does an excellent job narrating this story. It comes alive with his different voices. A recommender. I can't wait for the stories of the other three brothers.

Highly Entertaining!
Really enjoyed listening to this audiobook, different from the usual JD books, but actually very good.
Storyline, characters are just as great as the Ward Security series.
Looking forward to hearing Saving Rafe next 😊

Jocelynn Drake and Kenneth Obi - the perfect duo
I loved this book! My heart ached for Ethan, who lost his family to a horrific vampire attack, and I empathized with his desire to seek revenge. I both hated and sympathized with Marcus's mother. I loved Marcus and his brothers and how protective of their mother they were, how they were protective of humans, and how they embraced Ethan and made him a part of their family. And dare I say that I absolutely adored Rafe.
Jocelynn Drake's writing is superb. She weaves a beautiful story of love, loss, pain, and acceptance. She drew me into the story from the very first page.
Kenneth Obi's narration was perfect. His voice brought the characters to life for me. I could actually picture the characters and their scenes in my mind, which increased my enjoyment of the story.
Anxiously awaiting Rafe's book.

I LOVE KENNETH!
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me, maybe because I'm not a native English speaker.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Kenneth Obi is one of the top 5 narrators (so far) for me, I can listen without break and have no problems to follow. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review. But as usual, Kenneth did a great job!
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

great series starter
you ever read a book, enjoy the hell out of it, but know the next ones going to be better, and maybe the one after that ever more so? that's what this was like. A lot of it has to do with Marcus not being the most interesting brother, he's the glue that keeps them together, in line, and that's fine, the romance between Marcus and Eric was wonderfully beautiful and yet I want more. I want the other brothers.
the story had me hook from the moment I started it, and i came out wanting more. the world building up enough to know what's happening, which was a pretty simplistic with a politics that just wants to become more involved and complex though I'm not sure that's the direction we'll be going in. but who knows, one for sure I'm going to find out.
the audio was done nicely, there was only one moment where a characters voice changed when he got more air time (i guess) and one part where the tone changed greatly but overall i was able to sink into the story without a problem.
