Summary
Two necromancers, a dwarf kingdom, and a sky city - it sounds like a prelude to mayhem, and given Timmy’s luck, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
To keep his castle and earn his pardon, Timmy has his work cut out for him. Whether it’s rescuing princesses, crushing hordes of goblins, or dealing with eldritch abominations, Timmy and the gang are there to save the day - and rob the occasional crime lord.
But saving the day isn’t always easy. Timmy might be an eminently sensible necromancer, but he has to deal with a young dragon who is convinced that every problem can be eaten, an elf obsessed with property damage, an ancient vampire who can’t get through a mission without being impaled repeatedly, a semi-retired legendary swordsman, a bureaucrat who has finally mastered the art of screaming and swinging a frying pan, and an overly ambitious apprentice doing her best to be more menacing despite loving the colour pink.
It’s hardly a surprise when things don’t exactly go to plan.
With war on the horizon, Timmy and the others have their hands full. Rescuing a princess can be difficult at the best of times, but rescuing a princess from one of the most powerful crime lords in the world? That’s going to be tricky.
And that’s not their only problem. Ever wonder whose job it is to deal with rampaging hordes of goblins that are about to overwhelm a kingdom of dwarves? Well, that’s Timmy’s job. Isn’t he lucky? On the upside, he finally has an excuse to deploy another army of zombies. He’s going to teach those goblins a very important lesson: Never, ever get into a war of attrition with a necromancer.
One necromancer is dangerous. Two necromancers with a dragon, a vampire, a swordsman, an elf, and a bureaucrat - that’s downright deadly.

Continuing adventures of the crew
Look, if you're here wondering about this book without reading those before it in the series, then I suggest you go get them. It's quite feasible each one can be read out of sync, but then you might just be missing out.
These books are lightheaded fun with a narration to support this. If you're a deep thinker, perhaps you could give your bonce a rest and just enjoy yourself a wee bit by listening to this series.

This book needs more curse words
Entertaining as it is, I still get tired of hearing ancient beings limiting themselves to one or two curse words. Using the the Shakespearean curse generator would take this book to new level as it’s now limited to the words bastard and idiot.
The books is also more repetitive than the previous ones, never missing a chance to inform the reader why Timmy is a such a great necromancer or why Amanda is more difficult to kill than your average vampire.
I don’t mind being reminded in every book, but it can happen several times in the same chapter.

Two Necromancers And The Gleeful Goblin Genocide
I'd enjoyed the series up 'til here, Simple stuff but engaging to listen to while I do chores or craft etc. I was looking forward to many hours of listening to the crew having adventures.
And then the talk about the goblins started. And I got uncomfortable. SO uncomfortable.
Ah right so goblins are stupid and cowards but somehow also enormously dangerous and need to be eradicated on sight and they're disgusting and breed like vermin but they speak and have culture but they're a mindless hoarde with no reason for their actions, They're under the control of some incomprehensible extra-dimensional power but that's fully ignored because they're Just Evil. They must be slaughtered in battle and then derided for not having anything good to loot. They're gleefully killed with a goblin specific poison by the characters I'm supposed to... sympathise with?
A lot of the way the goblins were talked about had uncomfortable real world echoes of very bad chapters in history. A little nuance and consideration in the design of the villains would have avoided the point-of-view characters sounding like genocidal maniacs.
I skipped ahead a few chapters but could not regain my affection for the characters or the series.
