Summary
An overworked sheriff and a string of condo burglaries at a luxurious ski resort have Lieutenant Joe Gunther and the newly minted Vermont Bureau of Investigation digging deep for clues. But it doesn't take long for Joe to find the most likely thief missing and his girlfriend dead.
As the complications mount, from drug dealing to environmental terrorism to attempted murder, Joe and his team go undercover to infiltrate the closed society of a one-company town, populated by bored millionaires and supported by a small legion of resort employees, not all of whom are what they seem.

Great
Yet another great storyline and the usual characters giving life to the book. I got a bit lost at one point but it didn’t detract from the overall performance

Bad ending
Excellent narration which boosts my rating. The plot seemed slightly far fetched by the end, yet the premise was good. The storyline being dropped from 5* to 3.5*

Getting shorter!
How many times can one person be in A&E! And please, Gale and Joe, break up or shut up it’s becoming tiresome.

Good Listen
I like the new dynamics of the VBI and the relationships within the team. It seems to give the books more background and depth than the first books. Characters now seem more two dimensional. Great story feels much quicker than eight hours. No padding just a good listen.

Big disappointment. This book I didn’t like at all
This book was not a good plot far to much corporate background.
I didn’t like the new Federal Agent set up at all, there was a complete lack of timely communication and co operation between the different forces involved. I agree with Willie it was ..a crock job one that did not require the team and should be left to the local cops. Jo should retire from active duty and take a desk job. The newly formed unit did not work.Plot had far to many boring corporate back ground details, and to many references to Jo Gunther combat experience..it’s not feasible to suggest a man who gets tired after an hour and a half’s walk, could abseil down a cable car cable hanging from a crowbar… If Jo and Gail have the “are we ok” discussion just once more I will scream. He is an arrogant selfish man who only will do what he wants to do he will never enter into a proper relationship with Gail. He is also a real wimp. Always falling over, or dropping vital equipment. Bring back Sami, Willie and the others, and another good plot please, this book was just boring. And I’m a fan of the author and narrator.
