Original First book in Series
I read this book years ago but time has not dulled its impact. I love the characters of Mitch Rapp, the interaction between US agencies and the boldness of the plot, that years ago would have been very farfetched.
For some reason I purchased an abridged audio presentation. This was chopped and cut very abruptly. Go for the unabridged version.
If you like Jack Reacher you will love this too.

A good book, flawed by its audio counterpart
I haven't been an audible customer for long but most of what I've purchased I've been happy with. I'm a large fan of Vince Flynn's works, and I was looking forward to listening to the Mitch Rapp series. While this would be a good listen to someone who hasn't read the book before, Audible hurts the book by not labeling it as abridged. Huge portions of character development, plot points and major scenes are completely left out. This would have been an easy 5 stars if Simon & Schuster Audio had done this book in its unabridged glory.

Back on his game
With Transfer of Power, Vince Flynn was back on his game. The story line was clear, the characters believable and the details of the White House make you wonder if Mr Flynn doesn't have an inside source of information. My only recommendation is to put all his books out in an unabridged offering in addition to the abridged version, because the story moved so quickly it left you longing for more.

Shame this is abridged format only
There's so much going on in Vince Flynn novels that I really would appreciate the unabridged version to fully savor character development and plot lines more fully flushed out. This would have been a 5 star listen in the unabridged version. I won't buy any more Vince Flynn abridged audiobooks. Word.

Weakened due to Abridgment
I have to agree with the majority of the other reviews, this book is severely weakened due to the fact that it is abridged. In my opinion, this book could of been edited better. There was just way too many crucial facts left out. The reader gets the basics of what the book is about but that is all; there are none of the intimate details that normally go into making a book a best seller. In addition, I believe that the story is too choppy. If the hardcopy was written just like this abridged format was, I highly doubt that it would of been a best seller. Overall, the story was good, however based upon the reputation of the author, I know that the book is better. I am unsure as to who decides whether a book should be abridged or unabridged, but I would rather pay the extra cost for the unabridged format. Basically I was left wanting more. I guess the only way to get complete satisfaction out of this story is simply to read the book, and if that is the case what do I need audible for? Simply put, buy this book if you don't care about details and you are trying to keep up with the Mitch Rapp series and don't have time to read the hardcopy.

This Abridgement does Vince Flynn a disservice!
I have read all of Vince Flynn's books several times. The characters are well delineated, the dialogue is crisp and the plot details well formulated and clearly explained. This "Abridgement" chops out the defining character development (e.g Irene Kennedy), and completely annihilates the plot sequences, making it impossible to comprehend anyone's motivation, planning and follow-through. What make Vince Flynn's books so appealing is how true-to-life his characters are and how admirable Mitch Rapp is. This abridgement leaves out Mitch's thought processes, Irene Kennedy's input, and the tension between the vice-president's advisor and everyone else. It's clear to me that whoever sliced and diced this abridgement has no feeling for the genre, and views "military-types" as two-dimensional. Shame on you and your team!! Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series is heart-warming and encouraging in these troubled times. I read them as an antidote to the nightly news. Namby-pamby "girly men" get their come uppance and wrongs are righted. Truth, Jstice and the American Way prevail! Mitch Rapp and his Special Forces friends are the real Supermen of our generation!! Audio Books should dump this shameful abridgemnet and get George Guidall to read the full-length version! (Oh yeah!)

Great story short-changed
Like many of the other reviews about this audiobook, I have the same comments. I really enjoyed the story/plot, the characters, and found Flynn to be an excellent writer. However, I felt really short-changed listening to this book in an abridged format. I honestly don't know why it wasn't produced in an unabridged version, as it seemed to be a very good book. I almost didn't get it because it was abridged, and for those members who are sitting on the fence as I was, I would recommend getting it, if for no other reason than to keep up with the background story of Mitch Rapp, a very cool character. The story is fluid, and I wouldn't say that while listening to it one can tell where the story has been cut. However, while listening, there was no real character development, lots of interesting details that one would long to hear weren't there, and the reader was left enjoying what was there, but wanting more. If the rest of the story was as good as this I would have given it five stars, hands down.

TERRIBLE ABRIDGEMENT!
I am a big fan of The Mitch Rapp stories by Vince Flynn. However, this one is appalling disappointment. The chopping of the story makes very little sense. the narrator refers to things that were never included in the first part of this abridgment. Don't waste your credit!
