Story
The inhabitants of the Inventor's Housing Estate keep themselves to themselves. There are the friendly 'Hellos' when commutes coincide and the odd cheeky eye roll when the wine bottles clank in number seven's wheelie bin, but it's not exactly Ramsay Street. The dilapidated community centre is no longer the beating heart of the estate that Becky remembers from her childhood. So the new pottery class she's helped set up feels like a fresh start. And not just for her.

Everyone tells Martha Friel she is clever and beautiful, a brilliant writer who has been loved every day of her adult life by one man, her husband Patrick. So why is everything broken? Why is Martha - on the edge of 40 - friendless, practically jobless and so often sad? And why did Patrick decide to leave? Maybe she is just too sensitive, someone who finds it harder to be alive than most people. Or maybe - as she has long believed - there is something wrong with her.

Millie is a perfectionist. She's happy, she's successful and, with a great support network of friends and family (and a very grumpy cat), she's never lonely. She loves working at a big tech firm and is on track be promoted to her dream role. The last thing she needs is romance messing up her perfectly organised world. Besides, normal people just don't have romantic relationships. Everyone knows that being in a couple is a bit...well, odd. You know, like having a pet snake or referring to yourself in the third person. Why rely on another person for your own happiness?

laugh out loud funny brilliantly narrated
- By Hannah on 12-03-21
Summary
What happens when an estranged father and son unwittingly fall in love with the same woman?
A hilariously laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, perfect for fans of Something to Live For (Richard Roper), Love, Unscripted (Owen Nicholls), The Love Square (Laura Jane Williams) and Us (David Nicholls).
Out-of-work actor Harriet is recuperating from a crash-and-burn affair with Damian - aka ‘Cockweasel’ - and making ends meet as a barista when she meets two rather lovely men. Tom is a regular at the café, and seems like such a nice guy. Smooth-talking DJ Richard is older, but in great shape - a real silver fox.
Deciding to take a chance on both of them, Harriet doesn’t realise at first that she is actually dating father and son. Tom and Richard aren’t on speaking terms, and don’t share a last name - so how was she to know? By the time everyone finds out, both Tom and Richard are truly madly deeply in love with Harriet, and she’s faced with an impossible choice.
But as the battle for her affections intensifies, ‘Cockweasel’ makes an unexpected reappearance and begs her to give him another chance....

Great concept but poorly delivered
Quite cringe on the whole. Phrases like “f*ck nugget” and “c*ck weasel” are thrown around very often which makes it feel more intended for teen readers. Narration with 3 different actors is great, but generally the language and style or writing was quite disappointing. Story became fantastical and no longer related to the original premise in the last 1/3 which again was jarring. Overall was quite disappointed and would only recommend if you life cringe / unrealistic stories.

This was on languishing on my TBR list AND IT Shouldn’t on yours
This was a well written and well narrated book. Although, there were a few parts you could tell were edited in the narration, it didn’t take away from the experience. Each of the characters had serious flaws or motivations, so I found myself not necessarily rooting for any of them, but still rooting for the resolution of the story as a whole. I found that the love story presented isn’t in the end about living happily ever with someone making you whole, but living happily ever after with yourself and being true to the choices you make in your life.
