Summary

No witnesses.

Twelve-year-old Josy has an inexplicable illness. She vanishes without a trace from her doctor's office during treatment. Four years later Josy's father, psychiatrist Viktor Larenz, has withdrawn himself to an isolated North Sea island in order to deal with the tragedy.

No body.

Then he's paid a surprise visit by a beautiful stranger. Anna Glass is a novelist who suffers from an unusual form of schizophrenia: All the characters she creates for her books become real to her. In her last novel she has written about a young girl with an unknown illness who has disappeared without a trace.

Where is his daughter?

Can Anna's delusions describe Josy's last days? Reluctantly Viktor agrees to take on her therapy in a final attempt to uncover the truth behind his daughter's disappearance. But very soon these sessions take a dramatic turn as the past is dragged back into the light - with terrifying consequences.

Hard to stop listening once you start!

Cleverly written with dark twists around every corner, this story had me gripped right from the beginning.

There are clues throughout the book pointing to the truth about Anna Glass and the disappearance of young Josy but even so, I was wonderfully surprised when all was finally revealed. A very good build up.

This is one of the best psychological thrillers I have read/listened to in a very long time. I simply couldn't stop listening once I started. The narrator does a brilliant job.

I look forward to more thrillers written by this Author.

Enthralling

Lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing all the way through. Even the ending which I thought I had summed up gave a surprise. Well worth a read. Enjoyed the narrator.

Complex story.

This is a very complex, confusing & strange story involving phychosis & schizophrenia however I have to add that I could not stop listening. It would probably make a good film. I purchased this because it was narrated by the brilliant Robert Glenister who brings suspense & substance to each character. I'm not sure if I would listen to another Sebastian Fitzek novel, at least not for a while, but I would DEFINITELY listen to Robert Glenister again.

Mechanical

I guess the plot-line was well thought-out to introduce a series of twists surprises. Lots of documentary-style cliff hangers, e.g. "...what he saw next would amaze and astound him.." then the writer would go on to talk about something else while we duly forgot there was a cliff hanger.
Overall, the story felt a bit "mechanical". Maybe it was the translation. I didn't feel like I got inside the minds of the protagonists.

Griping but confusing

The book was good, took a while to get into but it's very gripping once it gets going. Personally I didn't like he ending, too confusing and quite frankly a bit rubbish. To some up ...not the best book but not the worst either!

Disappointing

I'm a huge Skandi noir fan and was really looking forward to this, as I'm also a Sebastian Fitzek fan. Unfortunately, I found the whole story a bit confusing, then lost the plot line completely, and despite rewinding and listening again, just didn't really get what was going on. Some books maybe aren't suitable for audio, and this one may be an example of that. Or maybe I'm not very bright. It won't stop me from buying more Skandi noir or another Fitzek.

A Yarn With Holes

This is a terrifically paced thriller and a strong basic premise. If it hadn't been littered with a number of mental health half truths and inaccuracies it could have been a challenging read. Accuracy was compromised for pace. The book therefore reinforced popularise views.

Unusually Thrilliing

If you enjoy reading stories leading you in one direction while pulling another toward you, then this is one you should pick up.

Through the wisps of uncertainty, surrounded by a fog of sadness and despair making you feel for the father. Thrilling turns to keep you wondering how it goes... really.

Always full of surprise

What did you love best about Therapy?

The way the story carried out.

What does Robert Glenister bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The atmosphere, the emotions.

Any additional comments?

Worth reading/listening. But not as good as the Eye Collector.
