Editor reviews
"A beautifully crafted novel of knife-edge suspense that held my attention to the very end. I wanted to compare the author to Gillian Flynn or Alice Sebold, but that wouldn't be right. This book is one 100 percent Linda Green, and Linda Green is bloody brilliant!" (Amanda Prowse, #1 best-selling author)
"The suspense becomes quite unbearable - and there's a final flourish in the form of a very punchy twist. A terrifyingly plausible story, that will have parents looking over their shoulders." (Sunday Mirror)
Summary
Dare you close your eyes for even a few seconds? One, two, three...
Lisa Dale shuts her eyes and counts to 100 during a game of hide-and-seek. When she opens them, her four-year-old daughter, Ella, is gone. Disappeared without a trace. The police, the media and Lisa's family all think they know who snatched Ella. But what if the person who took her isn't a stranger? What if they are convinced they are doing the right thing? And what if Lisa's little girl is in danger of disappearing forever?

Exciting believable and moving story
This is so believably written. I could not stop listening - earphones in while cooking cleaning and shopping to stay in touch with the characters and the story. I wish she'd written a dozen more books for me to lose myself in. Ten out of ten!

Page turner
I found this a great addictive listen. Strong story line and superb characters that I could identify with. You know a good book when by the end you know and understand them all. Can recommend as a good listen.

Gripping from the very first second!
Lisa's little girl has vanished in the blink of an eye but who could have taken her?
An amazing story with amazing narration! The characters are portrayed so well and the twists and turns of the story are enthralling! My only disappointment is that it had to end! My first experience of a novel by Linda Green but it won't be my last. This surely has to be a bestseller!!

Hooked from beginning to end
Absolutely gripping. Lovely multiple narration. Twisty and turny without taking away the emotions evoked. Funny occasionally, intense, slow, uncomfortable, realistic. Ultimately heartwarming. Loved this book on audible.

Gripping Page Turner
One of the best audio books I have listened too. Captivating and disturbing story, which made me want to keep on listenning. The actors portrayed their characters' voices so cleverly that I was completely drawn in.

A moving story about loss and regret
This is a very well written story with believable characters and a situation that is sadly familiar to us all. I was very touched by the two main female protagonists. Both are women who are not easy to like but their suffering is poignantly described and I could relate to both of them. This is a story about children and their parents and the mistakes we all make when we are trying to do our best. The despair of the child is agonising but subtly written and overall I was impressed at how realistic this all seemed. There are some tense elements in this tale but overall this is a far more reflective and emotional ride than your average thriller. I did think the inevitable twist was somehow thrown in as a crowd pleaser but I came away from this feeling moved by the events and people it described. The three narrators were excellent and it was good to hear this read with convincing regional accents thus adding to the atmosphere.
