Story
Tessa Wilson's life is all over the map. She may be clumsy, but this time she's stumbled into a pickle by choice, not by accident. She's agreed to take a month-long trip around Texas jammed into a '59 Cadillac with a drama-loving teenager, two elderly spitfires, and - oh, yes - her biological mama who gave her away at birth. And the ride gets even crazier when hot-as-sin cowboy Branch Thomas crosses into her lane. They don't call him the sexiest man in the Lone Star State for nothin'.

Summary
Stella's mama never should've put Stella on the church prayer list. With Stella's 27th birthday coming up fast, Nancy desperately wants to see her daughter married and giving her grandbabies. Petitioning heaven seems like a surefire way to get it done. But in Cadillac, Texas, where the gossip's hotter than the city's famous jalapeño peppers, it isn't long before all hell breaks loose.
Heather, the bossy leader of the church's Prayer Angels, thinks a summer ball will get Stella and the town's other single gals paired off. But nobody can tell redheaded spitfire Stella what to do - not her mama, not Heather, and not even the sexy beau Stella's been seeing in secret. Together, Stella, her best friends Charlotte and Piper, and the loyal customers of the Yellow Rose Beauty Shop hatch a good old-fashioned scheme to sabotage the ball. But will it wreck Stella's relationship with her mama forever? And what will the church folk think when Stella reveals the identity of her mystery man?

Disappointing, could have been much better
The story is good but it could have been told better and I did not care for the narrator. Every other word is damn, hell or shit which was completely unnecessary. In addition, all the cursing did not fit with the setting of a small, southern town in Texas. The story centers around the ladies of the town church. I feel like the book was written by a novice author.

Great southern romance but lose the song lyrics
Any additional comments?
Find my Daughter a husband, this is the sign at the local church that gets put up after a prayer request. Needless to say things did not go as planned, daughter was upset with her mama and good intentions were quickly turned into bad ideas. This story was filled with good old Southern charm, the narrator did a great job keeping us in the southern mindset. I think the main reason I enjoyed the book so much was due to the narrator, when I focused on the actual wording of the book it lost some of it's charm. I think the author tried to hard to throw in all the cliches possible. I also hate when song lyrics take up most of a chapter, oh how he sang to her.... It's not your work, I have no problem with a song line being thrown out there, or a song title but lets not loose an entire chapter to a song.

Tough to even finish
What disappointed you about The Yellow Rose Beauty Shop?
Story and characters lacked depth. Predictable, simplistic and boring. I had a hard time finishing the book.
Has The Yellow Rose Beauty Shop turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
How could the performance have been better?
I understand that the narrator was trying to give the characters authentic dialect and accents, but it was painful. It was irritating to listen to and the improper use of grammar drove me nuts.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. Poorly written drivel.
