Summary

Sisters of the heart play Cupid in New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Brown’s funny and heartwarming novel about friendship, family, and finding love.

Gussie, Ina Mae, and Blanche have been best friends for more than sixty years. From their humble beginnings of founding the Sunshine Club when they were girls to becoming the matchmaking queens of Newton, Texas, these three were inseparable. When Blanche passes away, Gussie and Ina Mae feel the best way to honor their dearly departed is with a shot of whiskey, some good music, and making a match for Blanche’s niece, Sissy.

Never mind that Sissy’s in town for only six weeks. Is there a better reason for her to stay? And is there a better prospect than handsome, charming, blue-eyed local preacher Luke Beauchamp? No and no. The attraction is already there. Now it’s up to Gussie and Ina Mae to make sure the sparks really get to crackling by Christmas.

The Sunshine Club is back in business. Don’t underestimate two feisty women who have their hearts set on a happy ending.

Critic reviews

“As Sissy returns home to Newton, Texas, after the sudden death of her beloved Aunt Blanche, narrator Brittany Pressley makes her grief palpable for listeners.... Pressley gives Luke, a man of God, a calm manner without losing any of his masculinity. She provides subtle nuances as Sissy senses Blanche's presence from beyond, speaking to her and offering advice. Sissy has inherited a vodka-demanding cockatiel, and Pressley's portrayal of the bird adds a touch of vibrancy. Pressley brings the listener through the characters' grieving and journey back to happiness.” (AudioFile Magazine)

Great story

I always enjoy Carolyn’s stories, I hope she writes a second book to this as I love the characters and Brittany has to do the narration as she does the voices brilliantly. Thank you and enjoy 😁👍

Too Christian

Way to much church for me. Would have still been a good story without it.

Good story

Good story though I do not enjoy the books as much that have the main characters hating on others and making fun of them. We have way too much of that in our society now. We need to go back to respecting others and respecting ourselves. There is an Indian proverb that teaches ' never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his mocassins'. ' This goes along with the Golden rule in the Bible that teaches ' Treat others the way you would like to be treated.'

Love this!

I just love Ms Brown's books. These small town stories make me want to believe in love and hometown bliss. Please don't stop writing these. Between you and the show Home Town, small towns just might be revived some day.

Brittany, you're just the best for reading these stories. Keep up the awesome work.

It was both funny and happy.

I've enjoyed this book so much. I loved the humor and joy. The characters were interesting and funny and heartwarming. The narration by Brittany Pressley was brilliant. Carolyn Brown has written another wonderful book.

Makes me interested in some of her other works.

An interesting concept, great cast of characters, too. Another knock-out performance by Brittany Pressley. She can do bird voices, who knew? She's also great with Southern accents. I'll have to see Carolyn's other works.

Entertaining!

This book was entertaining. I appreciated the stages of grief being addressed and the love relationship not being rushed.

Another Hit

You could remove the authors name and I’d still know it was a Carolyn Brown. It has humor, and busybody old women. A home run again!

The Sunshine Club does not disappoint!

Carolyn Brown’s writing takes you right to that place and you are with those people for that moment. It makes you want to be part of the story. It makes you remember to appreciate the people in your life and cherish those special moments. Loved the characters, loved the story and loved Ed the setting! Thank you!!
