Summary

Back home is the best place to start over in a heart-stirring Texas romance about friendship, second chances, and small-town scandals by New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Brown.

Riverbend, Texas, doesn’t look like the crossroads of anywhere. But for four high school besties reuniting after twenty years, it’s a place to unpack a lot of baggage.

Risa’s headed for divorce, Mary Nell’s been kicked to the curb by her leech of a boyfriend, and Haley was just blindsided by a shocking family secret. But restless army veteran Jessica Callaway, looking to plant roots, has an idea: corral her fellow former cheerleaders and renovate an abandoned church smack-dab in the middle of three dry counties into a bar. Throw in a grill and Wade Granger—a onetime nerd turned surprisingly crush-worthy investor—and their lives are on tap for a turnaround. Amen to that.

Except for one hitch: the white-clapboard dream is causing a ruckus. With a renewed bond, hard work, and the promise of romance, Jessica and her friends aren’t backing down. For Riverbend, this is going to be a homecoming—and a scandal—to remember.

it was ok

it was a pretty good book. I just don't like when women push the idea of children not needing fathers and fathers not deserving to know their kids cause a women is hurt by his actions. not fair to the kids.

Disappointed in this book

I am usually a fan of Carolyn Brown’s work, but this book does not come up to standard. The characters are underdeveloped, with no substance. The plot is weak, without rising action, a real climax, or satisfactory resolution.

I feel that the author is drawing a line in the sand between conservative values and liberal viewpoints, and she has somehow turned conservatism into the bad guy.

I am disappointed.

Okay listen

I was disappointed in this book. I kept waiting for there to be some excitement but it mostly mocked church goer’s. I typically love Carolyn Brown, but just wasn’t feeling this book. Don’t judge the book based on me it’s has a great narrator & a wonderful author.

Good listen

This was another good book. Not my favorite by this author but worth the listen nonetheless. I am sure others will enjoy the book as well. The narrator did a wonderful job once again. I like that she narrates a lot of this author’s books.

This was 100% awful in every aspect. Literally the worst book I have ever come across. Don’t want your time or money.

Enjoyable!

This is a story about how true friendships can last for years and have the ability to help heal. A bit overly sappy but I loved it!

Totally awesome

Carolyn Brown did it again. Close friends growing up together then as life happened they went their own ways ,but after a very long time of 20 years they each return to Riverbend Texas with each one having emotional baggage. They all reconnected and the story just continues getting really good. The performance by Brittany Pressley was very good too.
