About this listen
Ruth Markel is the mother of the late Dan Markel, a noted law professor who was murdered in Tallahassee, Florida, in 2014. In The Unveiling, she describes her experiences since the day of Dan's death from several distinct perspectives:
- As a devastated mother with the unique human perspective of becoming a homicide survivor and victim.
- As a woman whose attempts to achieve normalcy and live a healthy life are continually interrupted by painful reminders, a rollercoaster of hearings, frequently changing trial dates, verdicts, and appeals.
- As an engaged citizen using what she has learned to help other victims of homicide and violent crimes recover from trauma and begin an optimistic outlook on life.
- As an insider who shows how our collective network of family, friends, and experts have helped her family remain involved, motivated, and hopeful.
- As a grandmother who had not been allowed to see her grandchildren in many years, she used advocacy to inspire the Florida State Legislature to pass a grandparent visitation bill.
- And as an experienced author of nine books using the written word to effectively address the shift from grief to promise.

Unveiling
Never mess with a mumma bear who especially has lost her beloved son to murder and waits years for a trial. I need to go google to see if she has justice

Another sad view of American injustice
...as a Floridian over 65 victim of crime who never saw justice nor accoutability of the perp in the UK criminal system [ having left Florida 20 years ago] it is apparent that the scales of justice lean far too heavily in the direction of providing criminals far more protection than the victims....worldwide. There is something very, very wrong with a world where innocent people suffer the wrath and pain within outdated, improper and misguided legal systems....very sad...

Excellent
I didn’t actually like the voice of the reader, and when documents were read was it necessary to read the whole address email, telephone and fax numbers all the contact details each time?
Apart from that a wonderful book

Amazing emotional book
I have been following Dan Markel ‘s story and was glued to the trials….what the Addelson family did to this amazing Lady Ruth Markel denying her and her husband access to their 2 grandchildren is just appalling and heartbreaking. This book and this lady will remain with me for a *LONG* time!

Pain & tragedy but not a book
Why do we need to hear every detail from a fax or email sent ? Even the phone numbers and email address? What for?
It is a mother’s subjective ode to her tragically killed son, this is understandable.
Not much of a book though .
