Summary

His parting gift to her was a new beginning....

Julia Lovat walks away from her seven-year affair with Michael with a broken heart and his final gift to her - an antique book full of secrets. The book is the diary of Catherine Treganna, who was kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery in Morocco 400 years ago.

When Julia travels to Morocco to discover Cat's fate, she is quickly lost in an exotic and vibrant land. Her guide is Idriss, a man so charismatic and beguiling that their meeting feels like destiny. And so, in the heat and dust, two love stories, separated by four centuries, entwine and blossom....

The Tenth Gift is an enthralling story of secrets and discovering love where you least expect it.

Wonderful just didn’t want to stop reading !

This is my first book by Jane Johnson but certainly won’t be my last - Catherine and Julia’s interwoven journeys were so gripping and their characters ordeals so moving I could see them so vividly and suffered with them all the way! Well done!

Loved it

I normally read Phillipa Gregory books but ran out of titles to read so tried a new author. My second book now by Jane Johnson and absolutely loved the story. I do usually prefer historical, this story has history and presnt day and it worked so well. off to read more!!

A web of life!

A story that grows into reality as the characters come to light, not only illuminating the love of embroidery but also the love for people and places. The essence of life.

Interesting historical perspective juxtaposed with modern times. The

I was aware of the slave-taking in Cornwall but not of the Lundy Island issue. It was a good and balanced story. The narration was well paced.
It was a pity that some Cornish places and names were mispronounced. That was surprising as the author comes from Cornwall but perhaps she was not able to preview it.

Epic story with a superb narration

Just once in a while a book comes along that stays with you, enters your dreams and leaves you bereft when it finishes and The Tenth Gift is certainly one such book. It not only leaves you wanting more, but pushes the reader into looking up the history of the story and wanting to know more. Thoroughly recommended.
