Story
When Elizabeth Middleton leaves England to join her father at the edge of the New York wilderness, she does so with a strong will and an unwavering purpose: to teach school to children of all races - black, white, and Native American. It is December of 1792 when she arrives in a cold climate unlike any she has ever experienced. And she meets a man different from any she has ever encountered - a white man dressed like a native. His name is Nathaniel Bonner, also known to the Mohawk people as Between-Two-Lives. Elizabeth defies her father and shatters convention, but her ultimate destiny, here in the heart of the wilderness, lies in the odyssey to come: trials of faith and flesh, and passion born amid Nathaniel's own secrets and divided soul.

Summary
His parting gift to her was a new beginning....
Julia Lovat walks away from her seven-year affair with Michael with a broken heart and his final gift to her - an antique book full of secrets. The book is the diary of Catherine Treganna, who was kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery in Morocco 400 years ago.
When Julia travels to Morocco to discover Cat's fate, she is quickly lost in an exotic and vibrant land. Her guide is Idriss, a man so charismatic and beguiling that their meeting feels like destiny. And so, in the heat and dust, two love stories, separated by four centuries, entwine and blossom....
The Tenth Gift is an enthralling story of secrets and discovering love where you least expect it.

Epic story with a superb narration
Just once in a while a book comes along that stays with you, enters your dreams and leaves you bereft when it finishes and The Tenth Gift is certainly one such book. It not only leaves you wanting more, but pushes the reader into looking up the history of the story and wanting to know more. Thoroughly recommended.

One of the best audio books I’ve listened to
I’d already listened to Jane Johnson’s The Sea Gate narrated my Anna Cordell, which I loved. When I first started The Tenth Gift I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy it. The story seemed a little dull and I couldn’t understand the reason why there was a male narrator as well as a female one. However I persisted and quickly realised how wrong I was! Both Susan Duerden and John Lee did a superb job (John’s accents were excellent I thought) and the story got so tense and exciting that I couldn’t stop listening and started shirking just so I could hear more! Very skilfully written with a wealth of detailed descriptions. Truly one of my best listens in a very long time and I highly recommend it!
