Summary

I’ve waited three long years for this....

Hiding. Lying. Spying. Waiting like a spider for her to wander into my web....

Now she’s here, and I have to get even closer to her. I’ll help her. Befriend her. Seduce her, even. The only thing I can’t do is fall in love with her.

Her father took everything from me: my money, my family, my life. He has to pay for what he’s done. And she’s the only thing that can hurt him....

The Lark Notes:

"I’ve been planting clues and Easter Eggs all the way through the first three Kingmakers books—now it’s time for the secrets to be revealed, and the mysteries to find their conclusions. The moment you finish The Spy, you’re going to want to go back and listen to the whole series all over again!" (Sophie)

The Spy is the final installment in the epic dark mafia Kingmakers series. It’s a forbidden romance full of mystery, betrayal, and an explosive conclusion that will give you the biggest book hangover of your life!

Utterly Brilliant!!

WOW!!! I thought nothing else could beat Dean's story, but this one did. The Spy was so good that it left me completely speechless. I have no idea where to start my review. Finally, the identity of The Spy is revealed, and what an astonishing surprise it was. That being said, I will not disclose who he is in the review. The story evoked a multitude of emotions in me; it's heart-wrenching, passionate, beautifully written, and absolutely enthralling. The storyline is rich, compelling, exciting, suspenseful, and action-packed, wrapped and drama, angst, steam, and surprising twists and turns. There are so many moving parts, and the way they connect is phenomenal. Sophie lark is a genius storyteller, immersing her audience with an intricate and finally tuned plot shrouded in mystery and romance. The little clues she leaves between the lines are perfect; it's like following breadcrumbs on a trail.

The romance portion of the story is great but not as developed as the previous installments. The forbidden romance element of the relationship really captured my attention. The chemistry was charged, and the connection was realistic. Although the dynamics between the Spy and Nix were captivating, my focus remained to undo the unraveling of the mysteries and answers to my long-awaited questions. Sophie Lark wrapped up everything perfectly, and I'm thoroughly satisfied with the ending.

Once again, the narration was marvelous. Antonio Turner, Avie Paige, and Connor Brown all did an outstanding job capturing and portraying the nuances of the characters' personalities, emotions, and intensity found in the pages. As always, they made the story even more engaging. The Spy was a terrific listen, a journey worth taking, and one I'll highly recommend.

Good Listen

This book shows you that you can do anything for family even if you are living a lie. The things you do when revenge is your only focus. When you never expect to find someone you want to be with in this process and have to continue the lie. You will be risking more than you thought. Good ending to the series.

Bravo, Sophie Lark!

Book 4 in the Kingmakers series, baby generation of the Brutal Birthright series actually had some players in this one I hadn't met before from her work.

The Bully, Dean Yenin's story showed us glimpses of the elusive spy running around the Kingmakers campus, and the WHY someone would risk breaking into a school for the kids of the worlds most ruthless criminal organizations for three years awaiting their moment to kidnap one of those said students, is very compelling. That is how Rafe ends up masquerading as Aries, his childhood best friend, and descendant of one of the schools founding Mafia families, to earn the trust of a new student, Nix, the daughter of the man who is destroying his family. Even in the underworld, her father is a monster, growing up sheltered in her father's compound, she had no idea that he was so distrusted and hated in the ranks of the brutal mafia business world. Ostracised by her peers, Sabrina Gallo takes her into her group, making it easy for Rafe to play sympathetic ear to the girl he hates. I absolutely loved Nix's origin story, she's a fierce amazon, and I adored how the whole Gallo clan got together to help Rafe when his story got out, his mother is a warrior, I loved the chapters from the third POV.

Well paced story, and the narrators did an amazing job.

Satisfying.

Sophie Lark gas a brilliant mind!

Sophie Lark is a brilliant mind! She wrote this fourth book of the series, and weaved it together so that it pulls in the parents of the Brutal Birthright Series. It was everything that I needed and more. My heart was racing in this book and I loved how much it pulled families together. We’re all stronger together!

I saw glimpses from other books that seemed to reflect so much more about Aries than was being shown. Always watching, and always wear-fully there to protect his family of friends from all that can happen on Kingmakers grounds. Yet so many twists and turns that I have come to love in this series.

Nix had to fight so hard with her father to attend Kingmakers but being stubborn when she wants something I think her father knew he had to let her go. Nix was so lucky to befriend Sabrina on her way to the school. Nix had no idea her Dad was so repulsed by so many and doesn’t seem to have a clue as to why. Yet she is one strong willed young woman and she shows her worth and starts to win folks over slowly. Including one broody Aries. Aries and Mix are smoking Hawt together. It was a bit torturous seeing Aries fight his repulsion at first then see that flip flop into a deep caring and protectiveness for Nix.

This book brought all of series together and again with so much action that I will definitely need to hear these audiobooks again and relive it all in wonderment for the crafted writing skills of Sophie Lark.

The narrators were perfectly matched with the characters. I need to hear more Antonio Turner his voice was deliciously dark and tantalizing as the brooding Aries who had so much to hide from everyone, or so he thought. Then his family of friends surprise him in the end in helping him find his father. Avie Paige was refreshing as the unaware-full, tenacious Nix. Nix was a breath of fresh air for me. She carried no misconceptions of the other families because her upbringing hadn’t been one with others around. Hence her naivety upon her arrival at Kingmakers.

Then the background story by Connor Brown really helped pull the past into the present and helped me understand how connected everything is in the families of Kingmakers.

I really could go on and on with my praises on this series. Loved all the thrilling action, the budding relationships and the found family connections made at Kingmakers and I can’t wait to hear what Sophie has for us next.

Great audio.

Loved the book and the outrageous characters. Now that's the way to to do it! Bringing the Kingmakers series to its conclusion, revealing the full extent of the secrets, allowing the breadcrumbs dropped previously to be picked up and lead us to the conclusion, Sophie Lark has written a book which transports the reader to a foreign world, tells stories within the story and brings everyone's parts in the past and present, to a satisfying ending. Combine this with the thread of Nix and Ares' burgeoning attraction, and you have an absolute treat of a book. I couldn't put it down, and I don't think you will either. Bravo! 💖💖💖💖💖+
The audio lives up to the story with the narrators, Antonio Turner , Avie Paige and Connor Brown bring the book and characters to life. Very well done 💖💖💖💖💖

The best of the series

This book was the culmination of everything from the first four books. We get the backstory on the Spy and find out who it actually is to be honest it was not hard to figure out. Nix is new coming to Kingsmakers not knowing everything her father has done no why she is so hated by everyone on campus. Nix has to stand d up for her self and she falls for Aries who is keeping secrets. I loved this series.

This soulful story is amazing and surprising.

Aries is hiding- from his friends, from his professors, from the world, and more importantly from Nix. He shouldn’t be so attracted to her and he knows it. But their chemistry is undeniable, and it springs from mutual respect and friendship, despite Aries’ subterfuge and lies.

This series is incredible, and Sophie Lark does an excellent job weaving the books together in The Spy. I don’t want to give any Spoilers, but this book is such a wonderful tale of how everything and everyone ties together in this world. Nix is written as strong, both physically and mentally. She has to fight for acceptance at Kingmakers, partly due to her father’s awful reputation, even for the underworld. Aries is smart, but growing weary of the lies and deceit, even if there is a noble goal at the end.

Whip-smart writing and excellent narration blend together for an outstanding series. Sophie Lark is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Highly recommend this whole series!!

So Many Twists

Title: The Spy
Author: Sophie Lark
Format: Audio
Narrators: Antonio Turner, Avie Paige, Connor Brown
Genre: Romance, NA, Mafia, Academy, Suspense
Standalone: Not really - Each story builds upon each others
Part of a Series: Book 4 of Kingmakers
POV: The Spy, Nix, Aries, Ivan, Rafe
Steam Level: Steamy
5/5

The Spy is the fourth book in the Kingmakers series. While it focuses on a different main character, each book builds off each other so it's best to read this series in order. I had a my suspicions on who The Spy was - well narrowed it down to a few and I was right. But the how and why their story was intriguing and kept me listening. The previous books all built up to this crazy finale. I know there is one more book in this series and I'm interested to see where that one goes. Along with this current couple's story, other questions from another side plot were answered. Sophie Lark is a master storyteller and The Spy is an amazing addition to the Kingmakers Series.

I received this audiobook for free from Pink Flamingo Productions and Audiobook Obsessions. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Great end to the series

What a way to tie everything up in a neat little bow.

It was hectic there in the end BUT it was good… I would have liked to know about some other side characters (not Sabrina though) but I’m okay with ending where it did…

The Bully is still my favorite in the series and I don’t think I missed anything skipping the first book.

Definitely worth a credit to finish it out. It was well done even though I wanted a tad bit more.

My fav fr the Kingmakers! Female narrator cringe-y

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5 stars - such a GREAT story and beautifully satisfying (especially for those who've read other Sophie Lark books!) loved it!

Really enjoyed the male Narrators - they knocked it out of the park! But the female narrator was VERY distracting, and, at times, it was like nails down a chalkboard. She was overly breathy and high-pitched the last third of the book which not only didn't match the main female character (at all), but her narration became an increasingly overdramatic and whiney-sounding performance... likely the first and last time buying an audiobook narrated by her.

Favorite of all the kingmakers! Least favorite narration

Definitely my favorite story of all of the kingmakers Academy. As a audible listener it was my least favorite narration. The narrators would have been wonderful in a different book. I was expecting more accents. With a lot of the characters having Russian and other European history it would’ve been nice to have more of those accents in the audible narration of the book. But again the narrators were fantastic I just think they weren’t the right narrators for this particular book.

Love, love it!

I absolutely love, love, love this story. The narrators brought my favorite Kingmakers book to life. I went into this audiobook having already read the Ebook but I can easily say that I was just as floored with it as I was the first time. It was the way these narrators performed. They fit the characters perfectly and when I lay and listened I saw this book playing out like a movie. It was beyond an amazing experience.
