Summary

The first major system event has arrived as all the major factions of Earth converge....

Yalsten, an old cursed land once occupied by ancient vampires, but now long forgotten, finds itself the grounds for the system event known as a Treasure Hunt.

Follow Jake as he and the rest of his fellow Earthlings compete and cooperate in uncovering the secrets of this ancient land while naturally acquiring any and all of that sweet, sweet loot. But not without trouble.

The ancient defenses still stand between Jake and his rightful bounty, the cursed land itself rising in opposition against the invaders. Vampires of old who have long been dormant are awakened from their slumber, with each one appearing only stronger than the one before. By that logic, Jake truly hoped for a proper final boss of this event; the only question was....

Would he find the ultimate challenge from the vampires or his fellow man?

Great book but…

Another good book in the series, I just wish authors would stop making one event take most of a book. The world has beings that can live for untold amount of years but this one book only covers a week.

Great world building, Disgusting Butchering of MC

The world building is superb.

The main character has overall been the Achilles heel throughout all parts with his hypocritical personality and absurdly terrible battle- and time sense combined with an naive hero complex. All of which I could stomach until the end of this part and the final battle. To build a character, story and build-up for so long to destroy it like that... Screw that, I'm done.

In conclusion, A great story with a disgusting mc. I truly wish Willy, minus his perverted personality, would have been the MC then It would have been a masterpiece.

Good story, enjoyed much

Liked the story and the series, looking forward to the next one.
Do wish there was a different narrator, Guy is a little monotone.

Dragon Ball Z level pacing

Writing a book is hard. I get that. Hiring an editor is not. Literally, these characters float at each other and monologue _for multiple chapters at a time_. I enjoy the idea of this story, but the follow through is too pedantic to really click with me.

Finally!

Seemed like forever before this book finally came out on Audible. This series along with He Who Fights with Monsters and Defiance of the Fall are easily the best. Now to wait for book 6.

This is a filler book

This is a filler book while the writing is just fine for how long it took for the next book to come out this definitely is about 3 hours of actual story and 14 hours of absolute nothing (side stories, useless information, wandering exposition about anything and everything, and general bs) this is definitely the authors version of stalling for time because either A.) money, money, money I want money, or B.) the ideas for after this period have not been realized by the author and you can’t have a career writing without ya know actually producing something I find it extremely annoying when authors do this and it’s a major let down I’d rather just be told they needed more time rather than producing content that’s as fluffy as a marshmallow and does absolutely zilch as far a story progression goes be prepared to drop the series before wasting credits or money on ten more books that could have been two with just a longer wait time

Another outstanding entry to an amazing series

This fifth book might be the best book yet. Jake gets a lot stronger and makes some satisfying progress on a fun treasure hunt.

I loved it!!

I totally forgot that this story was supposed to be about the treasure hunt. All I wanted to see was the fight between Jake and the Swordsman. The hunt and the fight was awesome and the fight almost ended the way I thought it would! I can't wait for the next book!

Definitely skippable

The fights are too long and dragged out, the treasures subpar, the gains meager and the ending is meh.

I don’t know, maybe I’m not enjoying the story anymore. Maybe that’s the end for me.
