Summary
From best-selling author Kristy Marie comes a brand new witty stand-alone about a grumpy doctor and his hopeful patient who find love in the unlikeliest of places...the exam room.
A brilliant surgeon. A master sculptor. The media touted Dr. Potter as a savior dressed in a crisp suit. I think he’s a vicious madman of jerk-sized proportions. But fate is a wicked tease.
Only Dr. Potter can give me what I need. A fresh start. A new identity. But he refused, leaving me to take matters into my own hands by accepting a job as his partner’s new secretary.
Dr. Potter can’t turn down my case forever. Or at least I thought so until I uncovered Dr. Potter’s secret. A secret, which came with a venomous warning...one that destroyed everything.
The Potter is a stand-alone grumpy-sunshine rom-dramedy.

Just ok for me but with great narration by Connor
Well I’m always a little apprehensive going into a book that has flooded social media. Is it going to live up to all the airtime it’s been given? Unfortunately this time it didn’t for me. I stress FOR ME because I know there are tons of people who loved this book, so it may well be the book for you. And this is probably an unpopular opinion in a lot of people’s eyes, but it is my personal one.
Honestly I just found it okay. There wasn’t anything particularly terrible about it, it just wasn’t remarkable to me. I did appreciate the author’s note at the beginning saying that she’d taken some artistic licence with this storyline and these events would not be indicative of an actual doctor's practice.
The spice was nice and Connor does a great job on the narration. Cindy was okay for me.
So all round just a take it or leave it kind of book. You can’t like everything and that’s what’s great about books though, right? What I’m not a fan of, you might absolutely love and vice versa. There’s a book for everyone.

Oh I do love me a good enemies to lovers story.
Oh I do love me a good enemies to lovers story. The tension is really just something else.
Dr Potter. A master crafter, the gifted surgeon. The man who quite literally changes lives. He's a top pain in the backside Atleast at first glance. He's rude and abrupt, unapologetically so. But he had this sorrow filled brokenness about him that has you invested before you even know his damage. He's an intriguing character who runs hot and cold. He temps and he teases and he lashes out when he's beyond overwhelmed. A troubled soul with a heart of gold. I loved him. Even when at times I didn't like him.
Halle, the southern bell delight. She has determination and perseverance by the boat load. She's tiny but mighty for sure and as a character, I immediately gravitated towards her. Even before knowing her history, before truly understanding her reasoning and being able to fully appreciate her fight. She just shone through with this fierce fight to get what she deserved. What she worked so hard for and dreamed about. Above all of that... she genuinely had the sweetest soul there ever was. An angel for sure.
These two had this crazy tension that teased us page by page. Every bitter fight and swoon worthy breath taking moment of vulnerability and kindness only served to add to the depth to their journey. It consumed me. The hate to love dynamic lit a fire on the pages and left the characters a force to be reckoned with. I loved getting to feel their barriers break and their trust build piece by piece until it was only them in their all consuming little world.
They made me feel.
They had me so damn invested in their journey both individually and together because it was about more than just the romance. It was about being haunted by the past and healing old wounds. Learning to trust and love. Being ok with what is out of their control and moving forward.
It was a ride for sure.
Oh and the brothers of it all. When I tell you I ate this up. Devoured these sexy brothers like a glass of water in a drought. I adored the brothers dynamics. The easy banter, the hilarious bickering and even the tough love butt kicking they gave eachother. They rock, I can't wait for their stories for sure.
As a whole this book hit every nail on the head and ticked every box for me.
The chemistry was there from the start and the connection slowly built into something solid and true. There is so much fun and sweet but there is also some real hard hitting topics that will have your heart bleeding for these characters. Even with all the crazy unbelievable moments, there is relatable situations within the story and with the characters.
I loved this. I love the way Kristy writes her characters and portrays their stories. If I close my eyes I can see it play out like a film reel in my mind it's that good with that much detail but without it getting to crazy dramatic or over detailed.
Heather and Connor did a fantastic job with the narration. I loved listening to this story just as much as I loved reading it. the only difference is I can be more productive listening and actually get the house work and things done instead of being a couch potato. Plus listening after reading it just a different experience!.
LOVEDIT.
P.S.... I BETTER GET REMS BOOK!!. He better get a story.

Vance and Halle!
Halle had big plans for her future until one event put everything on hold, but she persevered. She believes that the best way to get those plans back on track is by convincing Dr. Potter to give her the surgery she needs. She has dedicated herself to prepare physically, emotionally and financially so she isn’t about to walk away despite how rude he is to her.
Vance is an accomplished plastic surgery who is going through a devastating experience that has changed him and his feelings towards his career. The last thing he needs is a cheerful and persistent woman trying to break through the emotional distance he keeps between himself and others even if she is the most intriguing and infuriating woman he has ever met.
Halle has been through a difficult time but rather than it bringing her down it has only made her stronger and more resilient. Every time they are together the sparks fly but it is her refusal to not back down from the grumpy and irritable man that makes them so perfect for each other as they take us on an emotional, humorous and heat filled journey. The narrators brought out all the humor, heat and heart of the story.

I had few problems with this
Dr. Vance Potter is the best in the field of reconstructive plastic surgery but he hasn't touched a patient in the OR for over a year. All we know is that he is facing a a traumatic lawsuit and his brothers, with whom he shares the practice, are worried about him. He's still taking consultations, but he has cancelled every single procedure.
One of these consultations is Halle Belle. She's saved for years to come see Dr. Potter. She needs scar revision on her hips and things and these scars are her roadblock to her acting career. She's determined to have them fixed by "The Potter" and comes from Georgia to Texas for that. When he says he can't help her, she just won't take no for an answer. His brothers are impressed by how not intimidated she is by the grumpy surgeon (eliciting reactions from him they hadn't seen in months) and offer her a job at the clinic. Soon after, when looking for a bathroom, Halle finds Vance blacked out from a full blown panic attack on the bathroom floor and offers him the kindness he seems to be unable to show himself. A bond forms between them and it will complicate their lives immensely.
I liked the story of Halle and Vance, but I definitely can see why the author added a note saying she took "massive creative liberties with , not only the Law, but the field of Medicine. Things that go down at Potter's Plastics do not generally happen at physicians' offices". Well, if they DID, I'd he horrified! To begin with, the lawsuit if frivolous and no lawyer would even take it. Then, a rule that seems wise to me is that doctors can't get involved with patients and, most importantly, they don't operate on/treat people they are emotionally connected with. So many questionable things happen at that practice that I thought it was an episode of Nip/Tuck, romance edition. However, I could live with the fictional liberties, even if some stuff made me cringe. What I had the biggest problem with was the pace of the story. I was way into the book and it still felt that nothing had really happened and when they did it was a little "meh". It was a good audiobook experience, though.
Narration: I just love Connor Crais and he shines with grumpy characters. Heather Firth is new to me but she does southern to perfection.
Possible triggers: as this is set in a medical practice, there are talks of loss of patients, PTSD from losing patients and mentions of living with disfiguring scars.

Dr. Potter Will Melt You to Putty
Halle Belle has been through hell and back. She’s ready to pursue her career aspirations after an accident left her scarred and broken. In order to land her dream job she needs Dr. Potter, the famous world renowned plastic surgeon, to fix her marred skin and make her whole again. She’s worked tirelessly to raise the money for the surgery and traveled all the way to Texas with her few belongings including her trusty goldfish. When Dr. Potter refuses her case this southern Belle isn’t going down without a fight.
Dr. Vance Potter is barely holding it together. He’s still reeling from a medical mistake that’s cost him nearly everything. Refusing Ms. Belle isn’t personal, it’s a necessity. He can’t even step into the OR let alone operate on her delicate flesh. Unfortunately for him she’s not taking no for an answer and with the help of his meddling brothers she’s now a member of his staff. She’s determined to wear him down. Despite his reluctance Halle is persistent and she’s willing to give him whatever he needs to help mend his mental scars so he can fix her physical ones.
She didn’t intend to get involved with Vance but now that she has he’s worked his way into her heart right through the seams of the scars he helped refine. How can she move on when everything she thought she wanted pales in comparison to what she’s found in Texas with her sketchy motel room, her grumpy teenage neighbor, Vance’s brothers and a love so surprising and devastating all at once?
I love this couple so much. Vance is a grumpy jerk with a heart of gold and Halle is a sassy strong southern Belle whose stubborn AF but also good to her core. My heart ached for these two and what they went through in the past and what they put each other through.
I flew through this story. I wanted to finish it as quickly as possible to get to their HEA but I also didn’t want it to end. Heather Firth adopted a delightful light Georgia accent and Connor’s deep voice melted me as Dr. Potter. Highly recommend checking this one out if you’re looking for your next audiobook binge! This one is a must read especially if you love grumpy/sunshine with a healthy heap of laugh out loud banter and angst.
Thanks so much to Kristy for giving me an copy to review

Great Start to this series!
4.5⭐️
“You don’t need a potter.” I breathe along her wet skin, the smell more intoxicating than bourbon. “You’re already perfection.” Review: I have been so intrigued by this book. Kristy usually delivers swoon worthy men, strong women and hilarious banter. She definitely delivered on this one! Halle and Vance kept me hooked. These two went on such a journey of growth and self acceptance it was truly beautiful. Kristy writes such great characters that are beautifully broken, either on the inside or the outside, which is one of the many things I love about her writing. Halle is a sassy Southern belle who carries her scars on the outside while Vance is a famous Plastic Surgeon who battles them internally. These two fight, but when things begin to shift, it's beautiful. I think Dr. Potter is the grumpiest hero I've ever read🤣, but I loved it. The struggles in this book are so raw and real and touching. I definitely cried as well as laughed and let my heart soar. I loved the dynamic of the Potter brothers and I can't wait to see more of Astor and Duke! They need to tell their stories.😁 I listened to the audiobook by Heather Firth and Connor Crais. Connor Crais was perfect as always. He nailed our grumpy Dr. Potter. Heather was newer to me, but she did a great job as Halle. Looking forward to the next book!

5 Who Rescues Who Stars!!!
*****UPDATED TO REFLECT MY THOUGHTS ON THE AUDIOBOOK*****
I literally devoured this book when I read it and having it come to life in my ears with the fabulous narration of Heather Firth and Connor Crais was a tremendous listening pleasure. I love how both of these narrators were able to express all the emotions of our H/h. Vance Potter is a complex man and has demons and Mr. Crais made me feel every agonizing moment as Vance went through a true healing process thanks to Halle. Ms. Firth is quickly becoming one of my favorite female narrators thanks to her ability to embody the characters she's performing. Halle is both sassy and caring and Ms. Firth did her right by being able to express Halle's feelings in each and every scene... I highly recommend listening to this book!!!
******************************************
My anticipation for this book was at an all-time high and I’m here to tell you that all of my expectations for this newest book by Kristy Marie were met and exceeded!! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Vance and Halle!!
Vance Potter is a man that is haunted by the past and because of this, his present is what’s going to keep him from giving Halle the future she’s been dreaming of and saving for over the last couple of years. But what Dr. Potter doesn’t expect is that this girl doesn’t take his “no” as the end of her dream… she’s going to get what she came to his practice for come hell or high water!!
Along the way, we get to come along for the ride as Halle not only changes the life Vance has been living, but also the lives of his brothers who are also in practice with him and it definitely leads to some of the best moments of this book! I love how these brothers rally around each other and push each other outside their comfort zone; but the person that does that most for Vance is Halle and it changes everything!!
This book had me captivated from beginning to end. I love the smoldering heat between Vance and Halle. The snarky relationship she had with his brothers and how she brought him to where he could once again do what he is the best at. But it’s not just Vance that changes, it’s Halle too. I adore this girl so much! She’s been through a devastating ordeal and she comes out on the other side of it thanks to her strength, resilience and her unwillingness to accept a “no.”
This is all I’m giving you because you need to read this book and fall in love with not only Vance and Halle but the incredible secondary characters as well, including an unexpected neighbor of Halle’s!!

I don't think I was ready for the emotions that this book brought out. It isn't usual for me to find both the H and h to be broken (emotionally) in some way, and I quite enjoyed it. Plus their initial dislike of each other and the brothers who kept antagonizing him, it was just a fun read. Of course you have to completely suspend any ideas of reality as far as their medical practice goes (way more Gray's Anatomy than real life going on in their clinic) but it didn't bother me too much, and I even work in the medical field.
A few things that I wish were explained more: her relationship with Remington (I needed more of him!) and how she got injured as well as got past it. It was a doozy of an incident, and I just wish it would have been brought up earlier in the story and had a better resolution at the end, it seemed kind of glossed over in the epilogue. But otherwise, an entertaining read, or in my case, listen.

Waste of a credit
I felt like this was a waste of a credit. The story was slow and ridiculous and I stuck with it hoping the story line would improve. I would not recommend this book . The narrators have great voices which helped me finish the book.

Not a romantic comedy
Not sure how Audible is classifying storylines, but nothing about this is comedic. The male lead is more than grumpy. He’s a selfish jerk and not very interesting. Couldn’t finish.

I loved this audiobook!
Having listened to Heather Firth and Connor Crais before my book loving heart was so very happy when i found out they'd both be narrating this audiobook! These two were so fantastic as Halle and Vance! They had me absolutely glued to my earbuds with their narration. I loved how they captured these characters and their emotions so perfectly! Their narration and this story are not to be missed!
Halle and Vance's journey once again had me so hooked from the get go! Right from their very memorable beginning you can't wait to see how things play out for these two. The realness that pours from these two was something i so loved! Their chemistry was off the charts and such steamy goodness! Once again, I felt so dang much from beginning to end with these two while listening! I fell even harder for these two this time around.
With The Potter, Ms.Marie has created such a great and addictive story that brings the feels and you won't want to turn away from it! Her writing plus Heather and Connor's narration makes for one unforgettable listen! I so need more from this world! I can't wait for more from Ms.Marie! I am so excited to listen to more of Heather's and Connor's narration in the near future because these two are becoming fast favorites of mine!

Beautiful Story! Outstanding Narration!
This was my first Kristy Marie's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in The Hands of the Potters series. I love the cover! Vance and Halle's story is beautifully written, emotional, funny, steamy, and heartwarming. Halle is such a wonderful character, kind, feisty, talkative, supportive and caring. I liked her determination. Vance, a grumpy surgeon, is very handsome, and caring. I liked their banter. They are perfect together. They both had a heartbreak past. The storyline has angst and drama. The cast of supporting characters is amazing. Connor Crais and Heather Firth did an outstanding job with the narration. They are both in my list of favorite narrators. This is a great team author/narrators. Looking forward for more in the series. I love the Potters!

What a ride was this audiobook. The story was one of my favorites this year, and the narration surely was a great addition to it. The emotions were clear in the narrators voices and the angst was definitely there as well. It was such an immersive ride, I was immediately drawn to it. Loved it!!
