It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single vampire must be in want of a wife. A girl easily molded, incurious, indifferent, and demanding nothing beyond access to his fortune. Fitzwilliam Darcy knows exactly who he needs. He can fix on the hour, the spot, the look, and the words which laid the foundation for an obsession he rejected. But 10 years later, at an assembly in an obscure village in Hertfordshire, he finds himself in the middle once more. His needs are unalterable. But can he resist the one woman he truly wants?

Orphaned and alone in the world, Elizabeth Bennet has found reasonable contentment as a companion to the dowager countess of Matlock, the affairs of 1811 and Fitzwilliam Darcy long forgotten. But the past intrudes upon her again, and Mr. Darcy returns to her, handsome, wealthy, and widowed, and hiding many secrets beneath his solemn exterior. But if time had altered their circumstances, one thing remains: Mr. Darcy still wishes to marry her, and this time, Elizabeth consents.

Story
As far as Fitzwilliam Darcy is concerned, the only good thing to come of Elizabeth Bennet’s bitter refusal of his heart and his hand was his new resolve to prove himself a better man. He’d done it, too, by closing the painful distance between himself and his estranged younger brother, Drew. And now Drew is newly engaged to be married…to Elizabeth Bennet. Family duty forces Darcy to support the engagement, especially since even the smallest hint of disapproval could ruin the brothers’ hard-won reconciliation. But how can he bear to watch his brother marry the woman he loves?

A ride on a stormy day has disastrous consequences for Fitzwilliam Darcy, who finds himself grievously injured and bedridden–and with no memory of Elizabeth Bennet, the woman to whom he has been married for several years. Recovery is slow as his head injury has made it difficult for him to read and write, and a suspected fracture in his leg has made walking painful.

Summary
Georgiana Darcy has gone missing. Lizzy Bennet knows just what to do to find her.
‘Tis no secret that Lizzy Bennet has dreams. The uniquely talented daughter of a woman with a dubious reputation, Lizzy knows she must make her own way in a world that shuns her.
Fitzwilliam Darcy carries the stains of his family’s dishonor upon his soul, and only by holding himself to the strictest standards has he reclaimed his place in society.
If his 15-year-old sister cannot be found quickly, her scandal could destroy years of perfect behavior. Lizzy is willing to join the pursuit to get what she wants, but will Darcy be willing to trust her with his secrets? And what will they do when the search for Georgiana reveals what neither expected to find?
This Pride and Prejudice variation is two stories in one book. The first book starts in Ramsgate with the disappearance of Miss Darcy and follows the adventures of Elizabeth Bennet as she seeks to find her. In the second book, our favorite couple has recognized their feelings for one another, but more surprises and challenges still await them at Pemberley.

Worst variation yet
I loved Julie’s ‘Tempt Me’ variation, that was about vampires & as a twilight fan I thought it was one of the best variations. But this... this is just awful. I simply can’t understand how some are rating it 5 stars!
What doesn’t help is that the narrator is just awful. Maybe it’s because I’m used to listening to Sarah Zimmerman or Harry Frost but this narrator does not sound like the characters at all.
I got as far as chapter 9 but I just can’t continue. I mean I’ve liked every variation I’ve listened to so far including the one where they’re vampires but this story is not believable at all!?
The story is too contrived for me.

Fan fiction at its worst!
This is the worst period romance book i have ever read! I bought it because i thought is was a follow on from "Pride and Prejudice" but it is not, it is a very badly written and narrated story using all the names of the characters "Pride and Prejudice" in about the same time period. The author has also thrown in some phrases and mannerisms from the characters from "Lord Of Scoundrels". The author has no idea how to write in the style of the 1800 and does not understand the the period at all. The characters are weak and are badly developed and the story line is so sickly sweet vanilla that even a Quaker would find it boring. i really don't understand how it got so many good rating as it is a fake, a ripe off of other characters and a waste of money and time. Fan fiction at its worst!!!

Quite Refreshing
The Perfect Gentleman is a very refreshing PNP variant. The storyline centers quite significantly around ODC and Georgiana instead of the whole Bennet family. Elizabeth's mother, father and older sister are introduced to the story instead of the whole cannon family. But they are more place holders to explain Elizabeth's circumstances. There's no real significant interaction with them in the storyline.
Darcy and Elizabeth have a brilliant meet-cute and the attraction is almost immediate on both ends but circumstances keep ODC apart for about half the book. I really enjoyed the their struggles and how they overcame them.

One of the Best Variations
This is one of the most wonderful P&P variations I’ve read - especially for a first effort! I love that it’s a long novel that takes the time for the development of the relationship between Darcy and Elizabeth intertwining creative events to bring out their characters. I like that Elizabeth is an artist. It’s also nice that it includes one of Darcy’s parents. Bravo!! Can’t wait to read the next one!

The erratic narration distracts from the story.
Ms Cooper has written a wonderful tale, which is buried under the wobbling narration. Is the narrator actually English? Is she trying to sound American? The elocution is deplorable in any accent.
