Thomas Judd is fantastic at narrating these. He manages to bring out so much nuance in the characters' voices and differentiates them very well. Ern Goon is a great character. But why must the story be changed from the original to the point of making it confusing? If there is physical chastisement of a character, you don't need to change that so as to not offend modern sensibilities - children are quite capable of understanding that times have changed, just as they can understand that Fatty and crew don't have mobile phones, or that most people don't have maids nowadays. This particular change to the story makes it incomprehensible at points, which is why I only gave it four stars for story.

When I was a young boy I loved ENID BLYTON still do, her books sort of took me into another world, I can remembered on my way home from school once a week my mother gave me permission to call at the Library to collect my choice of book, which I found really hard for i was spoilt for choice FAMOUS FIVE ,SECRET SEVEN THE ADVENTURE SERIES it was hard making my choice, I could have stayed and sat and read and read but having to get home I obviously couldn't, remember no so called school runs then you walked so i made my choice and off home i went wonderful to remember.😄
