"For Wodehouse there has been no fall of Man...the gardens of Blandings Castle are the original gardens of Eden from which we are all exiled." (Evelyn Waugh)

A great story, but there are better narrators
Sorry, but there are just so many issues with the recording. In the first few seconds, just before the narrator gives the name of the book, there is even a loud click as the tape machine starts. The narrator's breathing is most intrusive. Of course it is partly redeemed by this being the first in a great series, but I'm looking out for a better recording.

Great story almost spoiled by narration
Classic convoluted Wodehouse plot. Narrator did a really good job of voice acting for quite a diverse range of parts but I found his own drawly, raspy voice really quite unpleasant to listen to. If it wasn’t for the plot I would have given up on it.

Not PG Wodehouse’s best
It didn’t have the same hilarious characters or plotting I’ve come to expect from P G Wodehouse

Wonderful Wodehouse!
This is is the first in the Blandings Saga and a great place to start (although not completely necessary to do in chronological order). The narration is good and the story that was published 100 years ago is both funny and cracking in pace. A most enjoyable listen.

Delicious
Hilarious, comfortingly formulaic, escapism. I love PG Wodehouse and this is highly entertaining, and beautifully delivered.

Delicious
Magically and masterfully read by Frederick Davidson a new reader, to me , of the great Plum.
His characterisations bring the whole Wodehousian world vividly alive….. a real delight.

Love the story but…
The story was typical P.G. Wodehouse but I struggled to listen due to the narration, it’s poor to say the least

Very enjoyable
The characters are quite unusual. I also learned a few new (old) words, I'm certain nobody will understand.
