Summary

Wilkes is alone, struggling to survive on the island once known as Great Britain, 36 years after the zombie apocalypse devastated the world.

As the young woman makes her way along the ruined landscape, she stumbles across a backpack filled with journals written by a man she will never meet, but who will alter the course of her life nonetheless. Through these yellowed pages, Wilkes relives the worst that life had to offer at the very end of humanity's reign.

English Accent Murdered !!!! Awful !!

I love Mark Tufo and his books but after hearing Shaun Runette murder the English accent this book was turned off after 5 minutes and a shame since I was looking forward to listening to this one. 💔 I just about suffered his voice doing the large demon in shrouded world but this time its unbearable. Definitely sending this book back for a credit refund.

A huge fan of the series. This was disappointing

**SPOILER**

English accents beyond shocking, cringe worthy at best. Unless I massively misunderstood, the geography was just plain wrong, Wales to Cambridge, forgetting the part in the middle...?

Where was the rest of the story. It literally went nowhere and ended with an inane side story.

Another Good Story

I love Sean narrating all these books, but the English accent made me laugh out loud. More akin to Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins 🤣😂 Thank goodness he didnt have to attempt a Welsh accent ! I have listened to all of Marks books since they were first on Audible and love all the characters. This version wasn't as exciting as usual, mainly because it covered old ground in parts. Enjoyable though, just wish it was longer. Sean has to continue reading these, he is Mike, so wouldnt be the same with someone else.

Mark never lets me down!

Okay so I listened to Zombie Fallout, then the Lycan Fallout series and finally backtracked to Indian Hill. Now this little beauty gets dropped (obviously I HAD to pre order this one.) Mark has such a way with his stories. Mike is always hilarious. His internal and external banters crack me up. And can we just talk about Sean Runnette? I mean, he has read hundreds of hours of Marks books and he still kills it. I especially love it when he puts a little bit heavier of a Boston accent to Mikes words.

A few thoughts/requests:
NEVER let Sean go. He makes Mike come even more alive.
Ever thought about bringing all the Mike’s together? (Bringing both versions of BT and others along… I WOULD DIE with those interactions 😂)
Lastly, make longer books. I just can’t get enough lol.

THANK YOU MARK! You da man!

Love this series, but…

I was surprised to see a new installment because I thought book 16 was the finale. All the books up to this point have been amazing and the adventure Gas been well thought out and development.

This book though has some great ideas but they weren’t fully developed. Zombie train, great idea and something new. The building tension of the falling breaks adds to the tension but then the last two stops they make with the train are skipped over.

One scientist is separated and their keeper is going to go after them, but then they’re all on the run and the scientist is forgotten about. Escaping on Segways, also interesting and something new, but the escape gets murky.

Eastman, who’s been a decent guy and helpful to Mike and his team, starts off the same way, but then has an erupt attitude change out of the blue. We’re now supposed to believe that he’s willing to kill off Mikes and his team? We all know Mike’s tough on his superiors, but that kind of scheme has been built over time with background. Eastman just seems to have a quick psychotic break and then we move on. The last park of the book is a mission of the unthinkable, because it couldn’t be done in the beginning of the book, but somehow they can now. Confusing!

The ending is abrupt and odd. The tacked on “made up” story at the very end also ends abruptly and isn’t finished.

I’ve left out the fact that the premise of the book is that these two kids found Mike’s Journals and are reading it. Their story line isn’t well developed and are thrown in at random times. At this point I’m left wondering why even include them?

The story has some interesting ideas, but needed more craftsmanship invested in to its development, background, and plot. The next installment is out in August and I’ve already preordered. I just hope to see the return of Tufo’s past masterful writing style.

For the 17th book in a series...

so, I've seen some reviews of this series complain that the story has recycled parts from earlier books.. and I'm sorry but no, this is just completely incorrect. one of the best things about Tufo's vision here is that he has been constantly altering the situations the protagonists face with his version of zombies and all of their ever changing and evolving species. his heros are lovable, funny, and there is also something lost in many other post apocalyptic series with the amount of female characters who play large roles in keeping their compatriots alive.

now that I've finally caught up maybe I can sneak one of the spinoffs in before the next one of these drops... in like 10 days...
