Summary
It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on.
The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.
Through the chaos, some, like Zed Zane, discovered the virus wasn't going to kill them, but change them. Change them into something different, and leave them in a world where the word "survival" took on an older, more brutal meaning.

Great epic story
Always a little skeptical when there is a 9 book box set for one credit but I was pleasantly surprised.
Story follows Zed and Murphy through the apocalyptic aftermath is an infection and is centred around Austin Texas. Unlike with many multi book epics the story telling sticks with Zed the whole time. There have been many long booksets I have read where the suspense is ruined as the story keeps jumping between different groups. That's not the case with this book and each chapter continues where the previous one left you.
There were probably a couple of unnecessary encounters within the storeyline that didn't necessarily add value to the storey, but nevertheless it was a totally enjoyable adventure and I would recommend to anyone who likes this type of genre..
One welcome addition worth mentioning was the fact that the "zombies" aren't really zombies at all. They are simply infected humans and they can die with the same mortal wounds that others humans can. So there are no dismembered animanmted corpses dragging themselves along with only their remaining arm! Obviously this is still sci-fi but slightly more realistic than the unkillable zombies type of book.
Highly recommended and WELL WORTH your credit!

great series
absolute fantastic series usually the book start getting rubbish as later on on but this series really was worth listening to I spent all week listening to it

Best box set so far
This box set kept me entertained from start to finish, the banter between zed and Murphy is brilliant and keeps you smiling throughout the books.
Would highly recommend for any one who like apocalyptic genres.

Best post apocalyptic story and narrator!
I wanted to try an new audio book genre. I must admit I was extremely captivated since half way through the first chapter. I enjoyed the combination of voice acting, thoughts and action. Best book I've heard for years.
If you like survival genres, this book is 100% your best pick.

What a great series!!
I paid 1 credit for that and it was an amazing bargain! The excitement was sustained for all nine books. Great characters great story and very well read.
