Summary

The System has taken the Earth, but all is not lost.

With the advantage of the mix-up of starting in the Dungeon, Randidly has been able to found a Village for survivors to gather. With their growing forces, they’ve begun to nurture other outposts of humanity, teaching them the hard-earned lessons he paid for in blood and sweat.

Yet the tests thrown at them by the System are not yet done.

The Village’s tribulation lurks in nearby Turtletown, fleeing a direct confrontation and wearing many faces. Hordes of monsters gather, preparing to strike when they least expect it. Most worryingly, unsavory characters begin to emerge from amongst the survivors, taking advantage of the chaos to benefit themselves.

Amidst this storm, a message comes from Shal. Randidly's teacher needs his assistance to protect the legacy of his family. With the help of Lyra Silver, he hatches a daring plan to finally catch the slippery Tribulation, once and for all.

Because even if it takes him to an alien world and requires him to trust the safety of the Village to other survivors, Randidly Ghosthound always pays his debts.

not finished this book yet

as the title says, i haven't finished yet, but i had to say that the sat readouts are annoying. you even get readouts for the side character's pets. completely unnecessary. i don't know if anyone actually takes note of them, but i dont. it gets better towards the end. that or i have just blocked it out.

Better.

So if you listened to the first book which I hope you did as it would be weird to start a series from book 2 and if you are like me and like to read reviews you may have come across my review of it.

So this book still has the same issue with the MC but not as much which is good I can see it improving as the MC gets stronger and gains more confidence in himself which is really good because by the end of the 1st book I didn’t really like the MC to much but know I am really starting to like him. And I can only see him getting better.

The story still holds up, it’s progressing amazingly and is setting up for the next book really well so I can’t wait for that. I like the fact the author is not just throwing loads and loads of characters at us and is actually giving us time to get to know the characters they are creating. The system is really good and I really like what the author has created.

Overall I recommend this book as well and I’ve already downloaded the 3rd so will let you know how it goes but I am excited for it.

Once again thanks to the author and I forgot last time but the rest of the team as well keep them coming.

Mediocre beginning, but good overall

The narrator is absolutely amazing!

Story wise - in my opinion it was a very frustrating first half where the focus keeps jumping around to different characters and leaves you hanging in an unpleasant way. Not done to my taste, at least. Otherwise, enjoyable! Second half seems better, more thought out, to me.

Also the fact that his soul plants are completely disregarded is annoying. This, along with a couple of other things that feel forced or pushed to the sides, can be noticed and bring some annoyance. I prefer to think that the author is trying new things and so it will get better!

I liked the fact that the author is aware of the huge block of skills and does not repeat the whole character sheet a lot.

All in all, despite my negative points above, the story is nice, especially the second half. The events of the first half aren't that boring/bad (saw other reviews mentioning training montage referring to the first half etc.) , perhaps just the approach when it came to the different perspective of the characters.

good sequal

this builds well on the story from book 1 it starts of a bit slow focusing on the world building (not a bad thing) but once the storyline starts progressing it advances quickly although sometimes i feel the time skips go to fast and we are just expected to know how the mc advanced during these times with no explaination other than a character sheet readout
overall a hood book and looking forward to book 3

So misogynistic

I really tried to give it a chance but the fawning and vapid female characters are impossible to look past. The moment in the book where he calls Raina plain and then she’s obsessed with him is terrible. I think I get what the writer was going for but it just comes across as an incel’s view of women.

Frankly, Embarrassing.

First, I like the core of the story. I've always been a fan of system apocalypse books, and this series had a promising start - until the protagonist started meeting other characters.
It seems like other characters only exist to fawn over the protagonist in a VERY transparent way - this has become even more apparent in book 2.
The story has transitioned from interesting to an obvious self-insert fantasy. There could still be an interesting story under all of this, but it is ruined by it's lacklustre characters. There is never a thought in any female characters head that doesn't involve Randidly in some way.

I'd skip this one if I were you.

The first was very good, this one is lacking

The sequel does not advance in the speed like the first. I find myself skipping chapters to the end. The Narrator is still brilliant. Hope the 8next book will be a bit like the first

A let down compared to book one.

This series is going to suffer the same fate as most others in the genre, too many damn characters most of which are so two dimensional and vapid you just won't care about them they are just fluff filling the time, there is way to much involvement in the base building I thought the point was to leave once it was self sufficient..., story ceases all progression until over half way through as the 10 hours I have made it through have been one very long training arc with R not leaving the starting village for anything meaningful other than to throw a tantrum or two, the character sheet readouts are ridiculously long like I mean in some cases a whole chapter especially our protagonist this seriously needs abreviating, all in all our protagonist is an unlikable self conscious cry baby, the supporting cast are likewise unlikable, I don't think I will waste another credit should book 3 be released.

Great performance however but a voice cannot compensate for bad writing.
