About this listen
Just 15 years from now, the world is polarised along ethnic and religious lines. Regional low-intensity wars have now been raging for 35 years. In the midst of the conflict, 97 members of the Allied forces ninth Mountain Squadron en route from the Northern Front for a long awaited period of rest and relaxation, are shot down over the Nordic wilderness.
With no way of communicating with the outside world, the aircraft’s captain, Natasha Kavolsky, and the squadron commander, Major Alexander Burton, lead the squadron out of the wilderness only to discover that during their absence the world they knew has ceased to exist. This is a story of comradeship, hope and despair set in a world that is even now a real and terrifying possibility.

A hard slog
A very good story but long and sometimes confusing, suddenly introducing a second narrator was of putting as the lady does well.
A good story but you need patience to get through

Exciting story of war in the future
Bearing this was written in 2017 its has an amazing insight to the Covid epidemic but thankfully that is not quite so bad, let's hope another epidemic is not created to finish the job.

Overall very happy.
very good storyline fast paced and gripping, obvious knowledge of the military from the author, well read but maybe I would have preferred not to hear the rubbish accents.

Tom Clancy'esque
absolutely loved this book, really detailed & feasible, near future weapon descriptions gave this a Tom Clancy feel, story was scarily plausible too, author hasn't held back with the gruesome horror of mass war, only thing I didn't like was the implausability of the amount of kit they were carrying & the size that the fighting vehicles would have to be for the size of the force & capabilities described but in all fairness its a small gripe for what is a fantastic book

OK but lost its way
I stuck with this title, but it seemed to get lost mid way through. Good conclusion, however. Militarily content accurate of sorts. Well narrated, but those accents were rubbish and totally not needed.

It didn't quite grab me, I stuck with it, but just couldn't get into the story.

Sarah Borges - please give up
Story was ok, tense at times.
Sarah Borges sounds like an emotionless robot. Awful narration and practically ruined my listening pleasure.
Pity
