fun for all ages
I grew up with a bipolar mum, and how refreshing to hear mental illness depicted in a funny loveable way in this story.
The narrator / actress gives an Oscar worthy performance! in fact, I had to double check that it wasn't narrated by several people she does the voices so well.
loved every minute of this book.
and it's not just for kids - I'm in my twenties!

Fab!
(Read all pls)
The most touching story. The only minor issue is that Josie Lawrence doesn't really fit in with the books atmosphere, but you get used to it so I would buy the book 😁

Different...
It is such a good engaging book which also helps you realise your value of your own parents. It is a very touchy subject that has been written about but doesn't fail to meet great standards! Surely recommends:)

A story for all age groups.
I first heard this story as a child and I really enjoyed it. I then listened to it again years later as an adult and loved it. It does a wonderful job exploring mental illness and the effects it has on children. Its a story for all age groups.

5 stars
great book. jaqueline wilson really has a fantastic, imaginative mind as her plot was a huge surprise as in all her marvellous books! my favourite bit.....hmmm......too many I'd say, it was such an enjoyable and engaging story that I had to keep on listening through the night, until I fell asleep!!! throughout this book were many cunning and extraordinary and unexpected twists, which Is one reason why It is such a thrilling book! they narrator of this story really fitted the character and personality of dolphin. I could believe that if I met dolphin (marigolds youngest daughter! ) she would sound just like that! although if I could change anything or tell the author, jaqueline wilson, anything , then it would definitely be this....... in the story of the illustrated mum Oliver becomes dolphin's best friend, he comes over for tea soon after and when he is dropped off home, dolphin sees his mum waiting and looking out the window for Oliver. Oliver's mother gets migraines and is also a bit odd. it is then dolphin thinks that she isn't looking forward to going to his house as she'd of hoped. I would of very much indeed liked to see that play date!! I can't even imagine what jaqueline would of thought of, as she is one talented woman in many aspects!!!!!😁

Childhood favourite
Read this so many times as a child and thought I’d listen to it again - really enjoyed it as an adult. Didn’t love the narrator to start with but got used to it and the different voices really felt like different people talking.

An interesting book
wowie
❗Spoilers❗
A interesting book to say the least. I'm kinda of glad in the end that Marigold didn't get back to the girls. I felt like she needed to be stabilized. Tbh she was to mentally unstable. I don't blame star 1 one tiny bit about leaving her for her dad I'm pretty sure star just wanted to be loved and appreciated by someone. All that responsibility for one kid! I'm glad that Marigold is realising how she affected star and dolphin. I think this book was great and couldn't put it down. Finished in less than a week! If your thinking about it please buy this book. The reader really showed the emotions of the characters and poor old owly I mean Oliver. He was such a good friend I'm pretty sure Oliver needed dolphin as much as she needed him!

Love it!
I’ve loved every single Jacqueline Wilson book I’ve read or listened to, and this is one of my favourites.
The voices match the characters and it’s really interesting. Some parts are sad but it’s a nice story with a happy ending. I recommend this book to 10-13 year olds, but I’m sure lots of people of all ages would like this. 😊

Read it once again as an adult
My mom bought me her teen books when I was a kid. I never noticed so much hidden info from this book until I read it again after 14 years. When I was a kid, it felt like a good story. Now, the story sounds like a realistic relatable real life. Wilson always does a good job on her books. I love her. Only one exception is about the audio performing, Marigold is clearly bipolar but she’s not stupid. The audio actress made her sounds goofy and stupid, she didn’t portray the character well.
