Another good instalment to the trilogy
I really enjoyed this second book in the trilogy. I was glad that it was a continuation of the story albeit focusing more on Florence, Jack and Roselie (Florence’s aunt). The story moved well and although it was a dual timeline story to an extent they were both set just a couple of decades apart and came together at the end as it told Roselie’s back story. I liked the setting in Malta too. Very good and can’t wait for the final one which I will listen to very soon!

Heart warming and heart wrenching at the same time!
I loved this sequel to Daughters of War. The characters really come to life once more with their tragic and inspiring travels and relationships!

Addictive listening.
Excellent. 2nd of 3 trilogy I’ve listened to in less than 2 weeks. How for the paperback No 3 I accidentally purchased first. Such talent for writing and compulsive listening. 😊

Superb story
Amazing and gripping. I really loved this from France to England and the addition of Malta and Rosaleas story. The narration was spot on too.

Great story, dreadful narrator.
I loved the first book and had really hoped it would be a different narrator for the second, sadly not. Not sure I can listen to the third.

DaughtersOfWar trilogy book2 is a feast for senses
A feast for the senses. Dinah Jefferies has a wonderful way of describing the sights smells, and tastes of a place that evoked it so vividly and beautifully. The Hidden Palace is book two in a triology that continues to follow the wartime experiences of Florence Baudin. In this novel, her estranged mother asks Florence to travel to Malta in search of her rebellious younger sibling who set off in the 1920s to Malta seeking excitement of a bohemian dancer in a club. Through the interspersed chapters on Rosalie in Malta, we are opened up to how war affected the Maltese. It is such an interesting perspective on war and female experiences in wartime. Deep secrets and lies are exposed in the past lives of the sisters in this heart- searing sequel.
