About this listen
When Dimple Met Rishi meets Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda in this romantic comedy about two teen girls with rival henna businesses.
Nishat doesn't want to lose her family, but she also doesn't want to hide who she is, and it only gets harder once a childhood friend walks back into her life. Flávia is beautiful and charismatic, and Nishat falls for her instantly. But when a school competition invites students to create their own businesses, both Flávia and Nishat decide to showcase their talent as henna artists. In a fight to prove who is the best, their lives become more tangled - but Nishat can't quite get rid of her crush, especially since Flávia seems to like her back.
As the competition heats up, Nishat has a decision to make: stay in the closet for her family, or put aside her differences with Flávia and give their relationship a chance.

All The Flushes of an Asian Lesbian's First Love
I absolutely loved this. Coming out while fighting racism and homophobia while falling in love, growing to hate that beloved and being outed. Sweet and tender queer YA love story with great characters and unusual setting; migrant Asian family in contemporary Ireland.
Narration one star less only because the American-sounding narrator was quite jarring given it's set in Dublin and there are no American characters.
Henna Wars captures all the confusion and emotion of a first intense crush, which only intensifies when they like you back. Great subplots about friendship, social justice and sisterhood. Absolutely looking forward to seeing what this author does next.

Great book
Well written and well performed. I loved every second of it. I was even sad when it finished. I hope there will be another one. I loved the characters and would love to know what happens in their lives later.

cute story, disappointing narrator
the story was an emotional rollercoaster for Nishat. her coming of age/coming out story filled me with such emotion. the only thing was I felt that the narrator put in hardly any effort with voicing different characters, so conversations blurred in together.

a bit overexplained
a good story but it feels like they explain every little thing too much you just want them to get on with it a bit more.
