Summary
After tragedy strikes, Callie Sinclair is left with a gift she never wanted - the ability to communicate with ghosts. But when a desperate widow begs for her help, she reluctantly agrees to investigate the strange occurrences at Hillwood Farm. She quickly realizes she’s dealing with a dangerous presence beyond anything she’s ever experienced, and something else becomes equally clear - the only other living person in the house, Mrs. Turner’s handsome grandson, thinks she’s a scam artist. While she’d prefer to just ignore him, her heart beats a little faster every time he’s nearby.
Luke Turner doesn’t believe in spirits. He’s moved back to restore the family farm, but living on the property serves a dual purpose - he can watch out for his grandmother. He’s not happy about the sudden appearance of a self-described psychic, or his inexplicable attraction to her. His initial suspicions crumble as evidence points to an actual haunting, but he’s still determined not to fall for Callie - the past has taught him it’s best to avoid relationships.
As Callie is drawn deeper into the mystery, she becomes the target of a vengeful spirit, and Luke can no longer fight his feelings for her. Unable to resist their desire, passion ignites…even as the paranormal activity escalates to a final deadly confrontation.

Not just friendly ghosts
I was a little surprised at just how malicious the ghosts were. At some points I thought it was going to go into the horror direction, but it wasn't too bad. Overall I found it to be a really interesting and entertaining listen.
Kristin James did really well with the narration.
I would have liked to give both the story and the narration 4.5 stars. This was my first Kathryn Knight novel as well as my first Kristin James narration, and I'm interested in listening to more from each of them.

Loved it!
I loved this sweet romance! (There is no sex described... just "Are you sure?" "Yes" The next morning...) The characters were both likeable and I enjoyed their story. The plot was a little predictable, but still entertaining to read. The narrator did a good job, too. I'll be looking for more from Kathryn Knight! I'm happy to have had the chance to listen to this story!

Enjoyed this story
The Haunting of Hillwood Farm was a thrilling page-turner and I was hooked from beginning to end. This novel had the right mix of romance, friendship, disbelief, mystery and scare factor. The story was my first Kathryn Knight novel and I enjoyed it immensely. The haunting wasn't really scary just a bit chilling at times, but it did keep me at the edge of my seat and I enjoyed the romance between the two characters in the story. I really enjoyed this novel and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of romantic thrillers.
The audible version was narrated by Kristin James. Her voice perfectly suited to this role and she did a fantastic job with the characters especially the ghost. Her timing and delivery was spot on and I enjoyed listening to her narrate this novel.

Just the right blend
Just the right right blend of life, haunting, suspicion, romance and mystery! It wasn't far fetched or a horror story, the story was very credible and extremely well written and narrated (although I thought at the beginning I may not totally enjoy the narration as the suspense voice was a little over exaggerated for me, but it was just that bit and the rest didn't disappoint)
I look forward to further books written by Kathryn Knight and Narrated by Kristin James.

Haunting, Romantic, & Suspenseful
This was a haunting ghost story with a realistic romance. After a tragic accident, Callie finds herself having psychic episodes and able to communicate with ghosts. Callie is a medium who can communicate with spirits. A recently widowed woman, Alice, seeks her out to help her communicate with her deceased husband who she believes is haunting the property. Even though Callie wants nothing to do with the spirit world, she goes to Hillwood Farm and immediately feels a malevolent spirit that she doesn’t believe to be Alice’s husband. The widow’s grandson, Luke, believes she is a sham, but he finds her intriguing and Callie stays to investigate anyway. There were parts of the book that gave me chills and we’re filled with suspense and others that were filled with the start of a romance between Callie and Luke. I enjoyed the story overall and mainly that this wasn’t the typical trope of a believer and unbeliever of spirts, but the struggle of each character wondering if their relationship was right for them and if it’s what they even wanted. This story was filled with thrills, mystery, and romance and Kathryn did an amazing job at putting it together.
Kristin’s narration kept me engaged through the whole story. I liked that she had different voices for each character and gave Callie and Luke their own personalities. Kristin brought every spooky, suspenseful, and romantic moment to life with her performance!

It was ok
I like a good spooky book now and again, This was quite spooky, Callie has the gift of being able to communicate with ghosts. An old lady asks her for help and Callie arrives at Hillwood Farm and immediately gets bad vibes from it, it is a dangerous spirit, she has not experienced anything like it before. Besides the ghost, we have Luke, the old lady's grandson, he thinks Callie is scam artist but it isn't long before they get together. I enjoyed listening to this, however, I think there could have been more spooky/scary things in it and a bit longer story, the ending was so abrupt I was like what? 🎧Audiobook Obsession Reviewer

A haunting paranormal romance.
I really enjoyed the intense haunting and the various ways that contact was made during this well written paranormal romance. Many of these haunting events were frightening and some were downright horrifying. I cannot go into too many details of The Haunting of Hillwood Farm without giving spoilers but the story was an edge of the sea, nail biting one exciting one with a great ending.Ms James' narration was outstanding. There were many characters to voice and each voice was easily recognisable and showed the emotions of the characters. The story was an intense one and this was reflected in the narration. The mixture of Kathryn Knight's writing and Ms James' narration came together to produce a fabulous audiobook.

Creepy Ghost Mystery/Romance
Cassie did not want to seek out ghosts, but sweet old Alice was insistent that she come to her house and see if she can communicate with the ghost of Alice's recently passed husband. But Cassie soon realizes that it is not Alice's husband haunting the house, but instead it is another spirit with much sinister motives. Luke does not believe in ghosts and wants Cassie to leave his grandmother alone, but when he gets to know Cassie he realizes that she intrigues him, even when he thinks she is lying. But soon things are happening that Luke can't explain and the two need to team up to really understand what is going on.
This is the second audiobook I have listened to/read by Kathryn and I appreciate her stories. She creates scary atmosphere and great character dynamics, making her books really enjoyable and fast reads. This story was roughly 5.5 hours in length, allowing this to be perfect to listen to in a single afternoon. Kathryn makes her ghosts scary, building my tension and keeping me on the edge of my seat, while at the same time the scenarios are realistic, as if this story could really happen. I appreciate her storytelling qualities, while at the same times reminding the reader that this is still very much a romance too. Kathryn walks a nice line between a horror ghost story, a surprising mystery and a sweet romance- all three genres I love and mesh so well together. I am pretty sure that I am sounding like a fan girl at this moment but I really enjoyed this story and I can't wait to get my hands on another scary romance audiobook written by her.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Kristin, was fantastic, keeping me engaged in the story and the drama the entire time. The view point switched between both Callie and Luke and the narrator was able to give them individual voice and personality. I am sure that this would make a great read in general, but listening to this story really made me feel like I was watching it all unfold in front of me, as if I was part of it. I highly recommend picking this one up as an audiobook.

spooky
A very good ghost story with a malevolent spirit out to harm, a psychic, Callie and the woman she tries to help. When the grandson Luke shows up at first he is sceptical but when things happen to him he jumps right into help and into Callie's heart. But getting rid of the spirit is not easy and the baggage they carry in their minds and hearts ate not easy on a budding relationship. I received a complimentary audio and this review is voluntary.

Great Ghost Story
Audiobook Review…I have found that when I listen to an audiobook, I listen to more than just the words the narrator is saying. I hear the tones, the emotions, and the feelings that the characters are having. Kirstin James is wonderful. She brought all the characters alive, the ghosts, the haunting, the live characters all became real to me. I could feel their fear, their love, and the wonder at what was happening in the world around them. Kathryn Knight wrote a book that I loved in the eBook form and I was so excited to listen to the story on Audible. Everything about both versions are wonderful.
eBook Review…I am not a ghost story reader yet when Kathryn Knight writes a new book, I don’t hesitate to read it. Callie is not a ghost whisperer. She did not even know that she could communicate with ghosts until she lost her boyfriend and heard him after he was gone. She isn’t in it for the money, but she is willing to try to help Mrs. Turner when a ghost is haunting her house.
This ghost, oh my, was nasty. The ghost caused havoc caused harm and was just mean. I had goosebumps from some of the things that they did to the Turners and Callie. I was unsure of how I would have reacted, ok no, I know that I would have run, screaming and begging for someone to explain why things were shattering, doors were closing, and something was trying to cause me bodily harm.
Luke, Mrs. Turner’s grandson, had the right idea in being doubtful of Callie’s skill and her real reason behind helping his grandmother. I liked that he didn’t just jump into the belief and questioned what was going on. I also liked how he tried to fight his attraction to Callie. He did not just jump at being with her, he took the time to get to know her, understand what was going on with her, and he respected her fear of relationships.
Pick up The Haunting of Hillwood Farm. It is a must read. This is a wonderful ghost story that is quick, easy, and fun to read.

Romantic Suspense
I love a good ghost story and this didn’t disappoint. The romance aspect kept the story light enough but I caught my eyes getting wide at a few thrilling moments. Tragedy, mystery, suspense, thrill...great combination.

Good ending!
I must say the narrator was spot on for this book. Her voice was a perfect for a ghost story. It was a little slow to start for me but once it started it was good. The ghost aspect was fun and the slow burn romance was the cherry on top. I liked the characters, Alice being a personal favorite. Intriguing and fun with a good ending.
