2018 PRG Reviewers' Choice Award Second Place Winner for Best Book Series
A fresh start. That's what Becca hoped the move from New York to Redemption, Wisconsin would be for her troubled family. A way to get her crumbling marriage back on track, and to bond with her difficult 16-year-old stepdaughter.
But instead of a new beginning, Becca is thrust into a mysterious past she barely remembers. A past that includes the complications of interacting with her old teenage crush, Daniel, as well as living in her aunt's old house.
A house with a violent past. A house the locals swear is haunted.
But there's no such thing as ghosts. Right?
So, could there be something even more sinister out to destroy them?
And can Becca discover the truth before it’s too late?
Includes a special note from the author, plus "The Secret Diary of Helen Blackstone", a bonus story in the Secrets of Redemption series.

Great book, good story, very entertaining.
I really enjoyed Secrets of Redemption. It kept me entertained all the way through. I want to see what happens to the characters next so I’m going into book two now :)

DNF
I only made it to chapter 9 before I found myself zoning out in boredom.
Repetitive, dry dialogue drawing out an already dull plot. Maybe if I had of been more patient a good story might have revealed itself, but the whole point in listening to an audiobook is to relax, and not to raise someone's blood pressure in annoyance! Even January couldn't redeem this book for me!

Weak main character made difficult to enjoy
I hate it when they make the main woman stupid and dumb and afraid to speak up etc. The main character made me dislike book. I put on fast speed to get to end eventually. Wish I had not chosen book.

Not good
I rarely write a bad a review or quit a book but this book is that bad. The characters are not likable in any way and down right stupid. The story goes on and on and nothing ever happens til around 6 hours in them it’s so stupid I couldn’t even continue. Sorry to the author I know it’s not easy writing a book. Maybe it’s just me.

Definitely a new favorite!!
I’m so excited to know that this is not a standalone book but instead a series, I hope that the other two books are released on audible ASAP!! The story was amazing, 13 hours flew by & I found myself checking the remaining time, hoping for it to be longer then I suspected! I can not wait to listen to the rest of this series! I also can’t end this review without acknowledging the narrator, January LaVoy is absolutely incredible, I can’t imagine a better delivery of this book!! I will absolutely be on the lookout for the rest of the series!! Ps..do yourself a favor & continue listening beyond the credits, to “Helen’s Diary”

Did not finish. I got about half way through this book before I lost interest. Wasn't a bad book ... just didn't do it for me.

It’s okay…I guess
The main character is spaghetti not believable and didn’t really like her. I won’t be listening to book 2.

It Began with a Lie
This first quarter of this book was compelling with interesting characters and a mysterious storyline that made me want to find answers to the subtle clues, but then the writing, the characters, the repetitive scenes with ghosts, the town of Redemption, and the trite descriptions just made me groan. You guessed it…midway through, I removed it from my library. What a colossal waste of time. Luckily I was ironing and listening so it wasn’t a total bust.

Awesome book cannot wait for book 2 in the series
This was an amazing book well worth listening to. January Lavoy is one of my top three favorite narrators which makes it even better. I can’t wait until Audible releases book 2 in the series which is this happened to Jessica you absolutely want to know what’s going on in this town!

Defective
Could not advance past chapter 28. It might have been a good book—currently I have no idea.

Narrator is distracting
Narrator is whiny and bratty sounding. It would be more tolerable if she didn’t fake a male voice too. The story line is entertaining enough but not very well written.

Ugh
Weak women make me nuts- the way the main character constantly second guesses herself is maddening and ridiculous. I will not be moving on to future sequels…
