Summary
Surviving the first days of the apocalypse, William is a wreck and hiding in an attic. The daily acid storms, floating elementals, and bizarre mutated animals are the least of his problems. The reality-warping apocalypse has rules and a system much like those in video games. To survive, he must learn how the new uncooperative system works, choose a class without any real knowledge of what it does and create a place safe from the spawning horrors.
For William, staying alive isn’t enough. He will need to bring other survivors together and build a fortification large enough for all of them if he ever wants to strike back at the things that took everyone he loved. That is if he can ever gain control over himself and finally get any answers to what has happened.

Boomer LitRPG
The main character, our glorious hero, a fat man in his 50's hides away in his attic for several days, cowering in fear until he has the revelation to check if this is like a video game. Tada, snarky AI yada yada. Long story short. He acquires a class which can best be classified as landlord, starts claiming overpowered safe spaces. Beats up some jailbreak thugs with his awesome OP class. Would have totally served if the military when young if not for his allergies, gets a world first about a week into the apocalypse when he fights a seriously overpowered monster and wins because...because he just does. He does nothing special, has no real luck, he just wins with help from his OP class which spawns walls and cannons and other things to protect his apartments for rent.
OP goes around rescuing people and claiming their buildings so that he can rent them back to them. Meets a bunch of lazy no gooders and tells them YOUR FREELOADING DAYS ARE OVER IT AINT' LIKE IT USED TO BE, a subtle nod I'm sure to all those pesky freeloaders in America. Because you know, America's problem is too good a social safety net and spoilt millennials.
He's also a greek adonis, was the first person on earth to discover magic (this took him sitting down and picturing himself infusing heat into metal, wow, genius, no one else would have tried that among 7 billion humans in one week, real unique genius here).
Entire book can be summed up as "Okay, Boomer"

Exquisite - potential to be one of the top series
If you are on the fence about buying this, here is the review for you!
First of all, I can not express how happy I am to finally have a main character (MC) with backbone, that knows what he wants and doesn't stray from his beliefs. He is no pushover, but at the same time, his feelings/emotions are portrayed in such a brilliant way. I can not stress enough how good it feels to have a MC that is not a wimp, and that actually makes hard decisions and doesn't complain about all the inconveniences, while at the same time deals with actual sadness, not some third rate soap opera stuff. Well done to the author! WELL DONE!
In my opinion, this is the first book that comes close to portraying how real life situations/interactions would play out, considering the events.
I am a big fun of the book format - a chapter for each day. I can not explain, but it adds to the story.
Everybody, take notes. This is how you write good characters - I love how the characters interact and the fact that they are not one dimensional. Such great writing. It's been a while since listened to something that comes even close to this. No clichés, no predictable outcomes. Great job!
Action is great, development of the story is awesome. I could hardly put it down. Loved the concept of his class and how everything plays out!
Enjoyed every second of the book. Bravo! I can not wait for the next one.
Top 5 best writing/character interaction I've read in the LitRPG genre. And I'm saying this after I listened to 100 books in 12 months. Most things feel like a breath of fresh air.
Very good job on the narrator's part as well! Really brought it home! Fantastic! Bravo!
Congrats to everyone involved in the project!

awesome and sort of unique
really enjoyed the book, reminded me a bit of dungeon core books. felt like the pace of the book was a bit fast at times tho especially when there was coming in new people to the fort. would have liked to get to know them a bit more. i also realized hes wife situation and personal loss was a bit tender but a big driving force for mc, those feelings felt a little neglected and some gaps that was not really filled. but the bed has been made might be in book 2. also the mc was a bit unpredictable and i love that, would like to have some sort of force to upset that a bit and make mc experience some unpredictable situations too, from maybe someone in the fort or outside, not a saboteur tho. something happier, especially when mc has potential to go more toward anger and dark stuff. the plot is awesome there is alot of people to establish fun personalities for mc to experience and i hope you write at least 4 books.
love the book thou best book i have listened to in all winter. really really looking forward to the next one.
i also recomend this book to people to people who like litrpg books with base building elements to it.

I’m with everyone else, start of an excellent series.
Combination of strategy and action, this book combines the two perfectly.
Roll on book two!

Exactly what I hoped it would be
I really enjoyed this story. Let's hope the author avoids the temptation to change the way the story works as it's just right.
I love the occasional movie quotes as well.
Looking forward to book 2 !

Surprisingly Good
Well written jokes are a bit too much at times however it’s a good mix enjoyed it more then I thought I would. Clear inspirations from other rpgs but that is not a bad thing as this is original enough to stand on its own

Holy cow I’m only 3 hours in but both these dudes love to cry. Now don’t get me wrong, people cry, hell I cried last time my cat died. Very sad. But there is entirely too much crying going on. Even his force ball is called emotional force missile. I’m gonna keep at it cause I already used my return book but holy hell this is cringe. How are so many people giving it high scores. If it gets better of course I will edit. God I hope it does.
Edit- it didn’t

Poor writing
MC is supposed to be in his 50s but acts like an edgy toddler with anger issues. Litrpg and base building elements are extremely light. Considering what the name of the book is, I thought we would get more building and detail on what he is doing but you get “he made a courtyard or he made apartments”.

Base building
It makes me think of walking dead, but 10000 times better. I was given a code for an honest review, but damn this is good. MC starts out cowering in an attic after an apocalypse starts, then figures out a way to make life worth living. He makes hard decisions and wants to see the best in people, but isn't a goody two shoes when they turn out to be trash, and takes them out as needed.

Solid litrpg
I was entertained throughout the book. Not necessarily the best out there, but far from the worst. I’d say it’s worth a credit if you have already listened to the best of the genre and are looking for something to fill your time. I’m looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

9/10 Good base building no one is OP
its pretty good I liked it and would read the next. its not perfect but avoids all the mistakes that make me rage. that is the MC is not stupid or OP. The power the MC gets feels earned and I want to grow with him.

Entertaining, Complex, Mature
No harems, no slavery, no rape fantasies, no racism, no sexism.
Lot's of blood, guns, blades and growth.
I almost did not chose this novel because a review painted the protagonist as an overly sensitive adult emo crybaby.
I am so glad I decided to take a risk. I am a 6', 230lb heterosexual male and all I saw was a well adjusted adult man who was working his but off to hold himself and the community together right after losing everyone he loved.
This novel was short, but the author poured everything into the story. The characters were 3 dimensional, the women where not juvenile fantast constructs and the adventures had real consequences.
I happily give this first novel 5 stars. I wish I could find more adult fantasy like this,

Cry No Fight
At first the book starts off amazingly well the main character is laughing and joking and denial of losing his family and trying to survive and integration of the new game world apocalypse. Eventually though it starts to become an advertisement for therapy every time there's a conflict where it looks like things might get intense talk no Jutsu immediately. Even when people are blatantly violating in a serious way it's all about let's get counseling one character towards the end of the book uses his charisma to mentally Influence People but they just have a conversation even though obviously this person cannot be trusted.
