Summary

Jeremy Summers, a British banker with a secret that could reveal MI6 intelligence sources involved in the war against drug-funded terrorism, has been seized at gunpoint, in broad daylight, on the streets of west London. An old contact, Raglan - an Englishman who served in the French Foreign Legion - is on his trail.

Raglan's pursuit will lead him to the winter-ravaged wasteland of a remote Russian penal colony. A place that holds Russia's most brutal murderers. A place of death and retribution. How will he get in? More importantly, how will he get out...alive?

Enjoyable yarn

Slightly different to the usual settings for this type of novel, particularly the second half. Well read and enjoyable.

A really interesting yarn...

...enjoyed the characters and the story, listened in large swathes which is always a good sign. Another find author to add to my list!

Some nice touches, but...

You know the guy at the party who insists on describing every road he took from his house and how much traffic at each junction? Well, he's written a book.

Full throttle action

Some parts require you to suspend your disbelieve but that is what I enjoyed most about it.

The character is likeable, and if you enjoy a James Bond tale I think you will love this.

Narrator took a little getting use to, reminded me of the penguins in the Madagascar film to begin with, but after a hour or so I was fully absorbed in the story.

Will certainly get the next instalment.

A guy's book

I had thought this would be a thriller, but it is more an action book, with long passages devoted to fighting. No real character development. Women there to either be protected of screwed. What is the male equivalent of a chick book? Dick book?

Very good narration

Enjoyable listen with excellent performance. Storyline is a bit far fetched but managed to persevere with it.

thoroughly enjoyed this book

I was searching for a book that had great narration and a good story. this delivered on both. the plot along with the characters and story keep you wanting more and all very believable. what was refreshing was the actual realism in which the story unfolds, with main characters actually being killed or murdered & as silly as it sounds they actually stop and have something to eat and do normal things that anyone would. I know that sounds stupid but it's what makes the story plausible. it doesnt take anything away from the pace of the book and I cant wait for the second in the Raglan series.

definitely a big thumbs up 👍👍👍

Fantastic well worth listening. I would also advise buying either audible or paper back, very well written.
