Summary

Do the impossible, or lose your family forever....

Edgar Hill, unsympathetic husband and halfhearted father, finds himself in a hopeless situation. Despite all his best efforts, he hasn't managed to keep his family together. In fact they are further from him than ever - 550 miles, to be precise.

And in a world near annihilated by a terrible disaster, leaving the UK harsh and brutal, uncrossable by car or bike, his journey to find his loved ones will be fraught with challenges.

His best option is to run. But what if your best isn't good enough?

Includes original music by Adrian J. Walker.

Best book I've listened to all year

I listen to dozens of books each year from Audible as I walk the dog. Without question, this is the best I've listened to in many many months. Fantastic narration and a story that is gripping. My dog has had much longer walks these past few days as I've listened on that little bit longer! Can't recommend highly enough.

Brilliantly performed

I really enjoyed this, read brilliantly with great accents that really captured the essence of the characters. Good story, bit drawn out in a couple of parts but soon picked up again. Engrossing listen. Excellent.

Great characters, performance is excellent!

I wasn't sure what to expect but it certainly didn't disappoint. The characters are engaging and the plot is fresh, original and wholly believable. The author definitely caught the sense of the average office worker facing the apocalypse without any cheesy over the top heroics.

British Walking Dead without Zombies

Not bad, I would call it a middle class British version of the Walking Dead, but without zombies. Jot Davies did a great Jon with the narration, loads of different voices!

"ABSOLUTELY DYNAMITE!"

Light the fuse on this one and prepare for the 'Big-Bang!'. Absolutely unstoppable and unputdownable. If there's one book to digest this year, this is it. Well, what are you waiting for?

A gripping yarn

I don't often read modern fiction. There are some telltale stylistic issues but they did not detract from the overall pleasure I derived from the story which was made even more gripping by the brilliance of its talented narrator. I recommend it highly.

Pain

I found this story painful, I persisted in the hope that it had a good ending, but unfortunately not.

good story overall if a predictable

the first half was great but the story didn't seem to go anywhere I didn't expect.
there were some extremely interesting insights ( the main characters thoughts as he run) which redeemed the book for me.

I really like the performance of the book and have listened to other books read by jot davis.

Exceptionally Human!

The characters are relatable and perfectly mirror reality. Their individual depth only makes relationships with each other.... So human. I laughed, cried and shouted out loud while listening. And of course the amazing Jot Davies is wonderful! This is my favorite work of his yet. He nailed each voice and brought personality and life to the characters... after a while Jot phases out completely and you're left with only the people in the story. Tragic get beautiful. Thank you for this!
