Summary
A divergent future with a thought-provoking feminist slant, Moths is perfect for those who loved The Power, The Handmaid's Tale and Vox.
Out they came, away from natural predators, nesting in damp corners and in the tops of trees, crossbreeding with common cousins and laying thousands upon thousands of eggs.
'Then...the eggs hatched and an army of hungry caterpillars spread their tiny toxic threads on every breath of wind.’ The threads spell doom for humanity - half of it, at least. All around the world, men are dying in their sleep or turning into rage-fuelled killers. The world, as we know it, ends. However, humanity adapts and society moves on.
Many years later, very few even remember what life was like before the change. Mary does, though, and when an opportunity presents itself, she is faced with soul-searching decisions to make. Will she cling to the only strand of the past she has left, or will she risk it all in the name of equality?

Loved this but really wanted more.
Looking forward to Toxxic the sequel when it comes out on Audible.
It has a really good British dystopian feel to it. My only minor criticism is that I felt the ending was a little rushed and felt inconclusive.

Worth a listen
As well as being a good story the way she intertwined all the phrases used about women, like confinement and incorporated them throughout the story was really clever. The narrator was exceptionally good and fitted the character perfectly.

Moths
This was so unexpectedly good! I'd never heard of it before and went in blind.
This is way better than "The Power".
Really glad I found this!

Great story and heroine
Good to see older women getting starring roles. Complex plot and sympathetic characters. A scary vision of the near future.

interesting concept
great storyline. thought all characters well developed.. i thought that the behaviour of personalities and their actions for rights and their love for family were what humans would react in threse circumstances.

Absolutely fantastic!
This was a fabulous book, sad when it ended and left me thinking about it for sometime after. A great spin on if women became the dominant sex in a dystopian world.

A good take on a well-used trope
Hennigan’s Moths is a trope I like, but one that often feels too familiar – an event that affects a proportion of world’s population. In Moths the culprit is that of the title, and those affected are only men who, once infected, either die or turn violent, leaving the world to adapt to this problem. With men locked up and controlled to avoid infection, the women create their own society to control this problem. But there really is more to it all, and Mary soon finds herself in a troubling position. Hennigan manages to deliver a personal story with depth in a world that feel all-too-possible, and does so very well.
