Spellbinding

I found the audio-form delivery of both parts of the book really spell-binding. The background sound effects and music used enhanced the story-telling brilliantly. I loved in particular the haunting flute melody played in in two separate parts in the story. I felt I could have listened to it forever, it was so moving. The whole production was a very superior piece of work and I enjoyed listening to it tremendously.

Fabulous and Enchanting Read

This book is full of intrigue, forbidden love and tough life as a Sailor in the 18th Century. Whilst there is a supernatural thread woven throughout the story, the author demonstrates a thoroughly researched and articulated account of how life at sea would have been back in that era, which shows a level of perfectionism rarely found in new authors, who might otherwise embellish or simply guess certain aspects of history. The narrator for the Audible version of this book has been well selected, and tells the story in an easily listening manner for those who like to be read to rather than read from the page. There is no need for criticism in this review, the only thing I found unnecessary was the musical intro’s between chapters. I am sure however that some listeners would have found it supplementary mood enhancing.

What a journey!

I lost a day listening to this beautifully written and exhillerating narration of this tale . It was gripping, tense, stirring, deep and full. I have not enjoyed an audio book so much in many years. The narrator was perfect, his voice rich and sympathetic to the characters to such a degree that you became unaware that it was narrated by a single person. You could feel the atmosphere and see the surroundings in your mind as clearly as if you were there. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Thank you!
