About this listen

The gripping new thriller from the Sunday Times best-selling author of The Loving Husband.

Your best friend will always be there for you...won't she?

Have you ever had that sense that you're being watched? And you turn suddenly, but it's just a curtain blowing in the wind? Or the dress hanging in the doorway?

Nat knows something's wrong. Her best friend, Beth, would never have upped and left without saying good-bye to her. But no one believes that Beth was taken - she is a fly-by-night, a party girl who can't be trusted. No one's listening to Nat. But someone is definitely watching her.

this was an ok story that I only persevered with as I wanted to know the ending. sadly the narrator, in my opinion, was not great at all and her voice and inflection jarred me.

Tried downloading this despite reading two bad reviews about the narration, which is extremely slow & the intonation is all wrong. It can be improved a bit by listening at 1.25 speed if you think the story is interesting enough to carry on. I didn't, I found it a bit dull and will try to return this one.

Dull, irritating

Wished I’d read all the reviews before buying this - It’s like this woman has never read a book before. Can’t finish the book as can get past the wrong tones and lack of sentence structure.

Dreadful read by narrator

I got to chapter 4 with no idea what was happening because her narration is so awful. I couldn't face another 31 chapters so abandoning it and hope I can get a refund on my credit. She pauses slightly in inappropriate places in sentences and emphasises words that don't require it. It's a shame as the write-up sounds up my street but I can't do it. I hope Audible don't use this narrator again.

Narrator is so irritating.

The narrator's tone, which honestly made me want to smack her, meant the story was impossible to follow because she added smug inflections in all the wrong places. She clearly loves the sound of her overacting, but we don't. Trash.

Narrator so abysmal I was gritting my teeth

voice, cadence...everything wrong...the ever present smugness was unnecessary and wrong from the start . not recommended.

could not complete due to irritating narration

I listened to the audio, which on hindsight probably wasn't a good idea. The narrator was not able to "make" different voices for all the characters (and there are a lot) so sometimes when she started another sentence and it did not make sense it was because it was actually a different character in a different situation.
Because of this I found this book incredibly exhausting and not very good. I thought it was repetitive and way too long.

OMG soooo long
